So for those of you who have tried Bambu....is it both a moisturizing/strengthening deep conditioner? Because thats what i'm looking for :)

TIA!

YTC has been on my mind lately. I'll wait before I try it. I heard it's pretty good. How does it compare against the other top rated conditioners?

I saw it a few months ago in Walmart, but it's been removed. Now I may have to search Target . . . or better yet, search Houston in July 2011.

I'm really not the one to give you a comparison on it, sorry. I've been a salon baby since pre-k. I've tried elasta qp and I use motions oil relaxer system. Tried ytc and got stuck on it. Trying to find a new staple. As I stated before, don't want to pay $15 for such a small container. What's up with your verifen complex? What is that? Conditioner?

Thanks! That will be appreciated! I have these few YTC Mask to get through and I want to order the small silicon to try the week I clarify so that I'll know if I want to order the big 60 oz tub.

So far so good. I hope I didn't put too much in my hair. I added olive and jojoba oils to it.

I will wait for a week to see if my hair is fine without build up. Then I'll decide if it's a keeper.

I've been going to the salon most of my life, but lately I've been doing my own hair just to compare my other products. I'm able to feel the results, and that's what I like.

Verifen Complex is a complete hair care product line for African American hair. I started using it back in the mid 1990s--shampoo, conditioner, detangler, hair oil, hairline cream and pomade.

I highly endorse these products, and they don’t need to be doctored up. In other words, you don't have to add any oil, honey, aloe vera, glycerin, shea butter, etc., or anything to them. Nor do you need to do a hot oil treatment, pre-shampoo treatment, conditioning wash, etc. This saves a lot of time and less work is needed, plus they are extremely concentrated. A little goes a long way.

Now I don't use these products consistently like I did for the first 10 years. Now I rotate each month by using the complete Verifen Complex line; and the next month, I'll use Cream of Nature shampoo, Motions Moisture Plus conditioner, Infusium 23 Leave in Treatment (Repairology), Hairobics Hair Oil or Africa's Best Herbal oil and any pomade.

Since I stumbled across this hair care board six years ago, I started "CHEATING" by trying other hair care products. I have a lot of them, but I don't use them on the days I'm using my Verifen Complex products. These products are in a class all by themselves.

How is it that the same textures react so differently to the same product!
ok now that just doesn't make any sense!:spinning:

i dont think it's texture that makes your hair love or hate something. im guessing maybe it's the makeup of your hair? like how some can take silicones, proteins and what have you but some can't.

i wonder what factors constitute what your hair loves and hates. you are going to make me go find out now lol

any naturals using the silicon mix (specifically type 4s)? And - what's the best place to buy the silicon mix inexpensively?

Hey LadyPBC!

I'm a natural 4a/b who uses the regular silicon mix. I usually add some JBCO to it though. I do love it. It moisturizes my hair very well. I was extremely skeptical at first b/c I tried Miss Keys 10 in 1......ooooh wee can we say that my hair felt like straw afterwards....yuck. I tried the Silicon Mix and my hair felt great!!!! This will be a staple for me!

You should try it! I got a 16oz from a swap on the thread, but you can purchase at beautyofnewyork.com, or roundbrushhair.com, or bluebreeze.com. I've never used bluebreeze, so I can't speak to their service or anything, but check out the Vendor's Review section for that.

HTH :)

I deep conditioned with the Silicon Mix Bambu under my Pibbs Dryer for 15 mins and hair was so soft and moisturized.
I think I like this one better than the original,I am 4 months post relaxer and this conditoner has won me over.
I judge a product on how it works alone without adding any oils etc.

I like Silicon Mix Bambu but I think I will just be using it in the winter. It makes my hair soft and bouncy but once I go out into that New Orleans humidity it just puffs right out. Now I am using the regular Silk Elements and it is holding my straight style pretty well during this hot days.

I love the oriinal silicon mix. I haven't tried the others yet. Im 4b relaxed and it works best for me with heat. I also use it on my dd's 4b natural hair and its great for her too.

I'm natural type 4a/b and I have only used the pearl one and I like it. I want to try the others. It made my hair feel moisturized even though its a protein. But I think thats b/c my hair likes protein. Oh and I got it from a regular bss, I think it was $7.

bumping for 2011!

haven't tried the bambu but I tried the original and the proteina de perla

The original seems more like a protein to me the the de perla... It seems to me that the de perla is moisturizing and the original not as much.. does anyone actually feel a strengthening or protein effect from the proteina de perla? do you get more shine with one or the other?

Wow. I have nothing good to say about the original silicon mix. Stinks, doesn't moisturize, very crappy ingredients. I had to add oils to make it work for me

Wow... I feel the same about it... I think the original has protein more then the proteina de perla

The smell of the original formula is noxious. My husband can't take it. In fact, I have to double up on my scarves at bedtime. I'll try the Perla next.

I have the original and the bamboo. I bought a big tub of the original and small thing of the bamboo. IDK. I won't be buying the bamboo one again. It wasn't bad, but I have other products that perform better. The original one is my staple. I love the smell. I use it as a leave in. My hair is always bouncy, soft, and smelling good.
