First of all, all of you guys have beautiful hair  ! There's so much shine and thickness. Now, i know i will finally use this henna that i bought! Anyway, if i don't mix indigo in my henna mix, will it become red? I would love for it to be dark like i used indigo, but i don't have any. Oh and do i have to let it sit overnight before i use it or can i just use it right after i make the mixture?

The henna will prob. give you red hi-lites if your hair is dark brown already.

If not it may turn it red like mine (if your hair is a lighter brown like mine).

If you let it sit overnite, that allows the color release (red) to come out.

Others here have said if you just want conditioning but no color, don't let it sit so long. Maybe only an hour or less.

I can't wait to try this. I've been looking for some shine and have been using serum. But it's so sticky. I hope this will do the trick.

I did, but my roots were coming through and I wasn't gonna dye it with hair colour (no no no!) & couldn't stand to have dark brown roots with red hair lol

 , thank you so much that was so incredibly sweet! These past few months I've finally started to feel like I'm starting to REALLY get the hang of everything and Aveda is a big big part of that. I highly reccomend some of their products, but since we all know that not everything works for everyone, keep in mind that they have a fantastic return policy!!:yep:

Henna ladies, are you using anything else for shine, or is it mainly from the henna? Whatever it is, it's beautiful!

Yup my shine is definitely from henna, the only way I could get my hair blinging beforehand would be to use a gloss or serum, and it was not the same kind of bling if that makes any sense.

Question ladies, I've read some of you speak of henna dramatically drying your hair, we know that means wks, mos of growing being broken off in as little as a few washings.

So why do you guys henna ? if for strength, why not a protein ? if for gloss why not gloss sprays, serums, cellophanes, glazes...why henna ?

(yeah, I'm a newbie...:) )

I did my henna to cover grays. Everything else, the strength, conditioning, color, shine, health are pluses. My hair is certainly not dry, it's very well moisturized and strong. ;) Some of the dryness some of the ladies experienced is due to adding lemon juice to their henna or extra proteins AND not deep conditioning their hair with moisturizing conditioner. :)

I started henna for conditioning and discovered the coloring effects after a few uses. Different protein treatments seem to be hit and miss with me (never found one that did it all) but henna ALWAYS brings my hair in right on point.

I never experience overly dry hair from henna.

Henna has made the world of difference in my hair as far as health, strength color goes! I hoping that as I learn to care for my hair better I can do away with all the glossers and sprays and just wear a leave-in conditioner and have natural bling like the indian girls do!

Mmmm....so does henna add protein ? shine ? and color ?
My hair is black, does it come in black ? why add lemon juice ? extra proteins ? Does it make it any more tangled than aphogee ? if henna has protein in it, do I need to do my regular protein conditioners or does henna add enough to slow up adding more ? ...Yeah, I have lotsa questions

So, henna made your hair strong...did you have to add protein to it for this ? How often do you have to henna , every wash, once a month ? Does the " bling " wash out easily ?

I would love to have natural " bling " . The only thing that gives it to me is a setting lotion that also makes the hair " crisp " , which can cause breakage of your ends... If I try to overcome that and add alot of oils to the end, the setting lotion is " overcome " and doesnt shine with it

Henna made my hair strong and gave my fine strands lots of thickness and volume. Its not drying at all for me. I don't add lemon juice or any of those things to it so I think I've avoided the dryness that way. Plus I use a good quality henna - Jamila. Outside of henna giving my hair shine, coconut oil gives my hair LOTS OF SHINE. I just scoop some out with my finger and rub in my hands until it dissolves and run my fingers through my hair, the shine is instant.
This was my last henna treatment. I didn't use enough so I ended up with highlights for the most part but I still love it!
