Just been speaking to my bf about the fact that i am hoping to get hair growth now i am looking after my hair better and he said that apparently sex or the thought of sex increases hairgrowth and apparently there was a study carried out on oil rig workers and it was found that when they went on leave they had increased hair growth compared to normal working day. This was due to the thought of sex or the act of sex.... i just am hoping he didnt say it to have more sex with me but its a thought for you girls out there ..share your thoughts..

Sex might increase hair growth the way exercising increases hair growth because it makes you work up a sweat:bouncegre.

Studys have shown sex increases the blood flow and hair is a product of blood. increse the heart flow and increase the hair..

A couple of years back Essence Magazine did an article on hair growth and how orgasm has a lot to do with hair growth. Maybe that goes along the sames lines as the increased blood flow. I wish I still had the article.

My hair is doing better w/ RETENTION since NOT getting busy. When i was doing the do on a regular my hair was always getting sweaty and tangled and caught under limbs during the act. Then, I'd fall asleep sometimes w/o tying it up trying to be all cute on his COTTON pillowcases.

Now i ever so meticulously every night moisturize/oil and carefully detangle and wrap up my hair in my silk scarf.

Yep, it sucks not having him around anymore. But my hair is looking fly!

It could be that the more frequent "workouts" help to incerease the metabolism, thus leading to hair growth. I have heard on here that as people become more active and worked out more they noticed faster hair growth.

Sorry, had to bump this thread because I've been wondering about it for a while. In a purely scientific way... My DH and I didn't do premarital sex, and after we got married I had a HUGE growth spurt. Everybody noticed. y hair got longer and thicker QUICK! And I had, of course, been working out religiously prior to the wedding, so it wasn't just the workout. My mom said it was all the extra protein . But was it? I am wondering if it makes a difference if you use a condom or not?
