OK. I need the help of my new found buddies!!! I just found a FANTASTIC BEAUTICIAN!!!!! She permed my hair, dusted the ends and made it look gorgeous!!! My problem now is that I want to stretch my touch ups...so instead of my usual routine of doing con washes everday; I want to only do them once a week. I need the valuable information from this site. HELP!!!!!

Hi Tazzydennis,

What is your question exactly? With your current routine, do you wash 'n go? Is it your goal to also change your style when you reduce your washes to once a week?

My question is...with a fresh, new perm should I keep doing my conditioner wash everyday or should I stretch my washes to once a week!!!

With my hair as short as it I usually have to hot curl it in order for it to look right, even with a perm. I've tried doing the braid outs; but, my hair doesn't look right afterwards. At this point I'm still pretty hair ignorant.

Oh, okay. After a fresh relaxer or touch up, you shouldn't wash your hair for three days, anyway. But, after that, I would wash once or twice a week so you don't have to use the curling iron any more than that.

I wash my hair once a week... anything more than 2x a week would dry my hair out something serious. Plus the additional heat to dry it probably isn't good either.

I suppose that I would have that problem too; but, I do the conditioner washes and that has helped immensely with my dryness. But, I think that I'll cut the conditioner washes down to once a week (despite the fact that this has really helped in my hair growth). This way my relaxer will last awhile longer and once the newness wears off I can start my daily co washes again.

I wash mine twice a week. My hair likes water. Actually, I've learned since I've been on LHCF that hair needs water to combat dryness. So washing, per sé, isn't drying. It's the products and/or techniques that can be drying. Of course it depends on each person's preference and schedule.

Even if you dont wash it it's still going to start growing and lose that freshness factor. Also if your hair is feeling dry it's reeeally going to lose that fresh look. I think you should continue with the conditioner washes but maybe cut it to twice a week or so as to limit your heat exposure, but if something is making your hair feel healthy and moisturized, don't cut it out your life.

Hey OP, think i feel ya. I like to keep my newness too. For the first 4 weeks after a touch up, i dont CoWash. I DC one time per week. After the first 4 weeks I start the Cowashing again.

Shoot- I need to enjoy my hair when the relaxer is fresh.:look:

Good luck!1

Thanks Chocolate Diva! Right now my hair is in the best condition EVER and it's doing what I want it to (for a change). But, this is usually the case after a good perm and trim. Once the 1st month goes by; my hair requires more of my attention. I fully intend to continue my routine...I just wanted to cut it back for a minute. Cause I don't have the luxury of long hair (YET) to pull into a ponytail.
