I cut my hair to APL in April 2009 (about a year ago)
Before the relaxer

Flatironed After the relaxer (ORS No-Lye regular)
I just woke up..and I wore my hair in a braid so my hair's not 100 percent straight.

great progress! What was your reggie during this stretch?

Wash'/Deep condition once a week.
before the wash, finger detangle and prepoo with a pre-mix of indian oils for an hour (castor oil, mustard seed, amla, brahmi, rosemary eo, thyme eo, shikakai oil)
Deep condition is a mix of GVP Conditioning Balm, Suave coconut, Aussie Moist, castor oil, amla powder, avocado butter, avocado oil, and honey.
Shampoo after deep conditioning with Herbal Essences Hello Hydration
Condition and detangle with Aussie Moist
AUSSIE MOIST IS INCREDIBLE. It's what helped me stretch.

During the day I braided my hair under a wig.
Moisturized each day (or skipped days because buildup causes tangles) with Herbal Essences LTR and sealed with Amla oil.

I'm style challenged as well...lol I usually just rollerset and wrap right after... have you tried rollersetting?
