Here you go!I finally relaxed last night after however long lol
Someone just called me and told me they saw on FB today that my Stylist passed away.![]()
@MzSwift((BIG HUG))
You had been seeing her for a while, right?
I hope you're doing alright.
Another ((HUG)) for you.
I’m over 4months post ( can’t even tell the weeks at this point) and I might not feel like relaxing for another 9 months. I’m pregnant and a little conflicted on relaxing right now plus just thinking about the energy self relaxing takes is making me tired.
I have little dreads that keep trying to form in the middle of my head where it’s coursest. I haven’t completely neglected it but this is the longest I have gone without washing in a while (2weeks), and for me, it’s definitely a negative. My ends are dryer, more tangled and I see splitting now. I think the only goal this year is maintaining hair on my head
13 months post sounds like insanity right?
Congratulations!!
Ohhh, did you guys make a honeymoon baby too?? If so, welcome to the club!
So I was also on an HHJ and relaxed during my pregnancy. I stayed in mini braids pretty much the whole pregnancy AND for about 4 months post-partum. I had a TON of ng!!
I refreshed them one by one every 4-6 weeks (so about once a month) which made it so much easier for me to stop when I needed to take a break. Starting the refresh in the front, allowed the style to appear fresh and I took my time doing the rest of my hair. And all I did daily was water rinse them in the shower, slather on condish and ponytail/bun them in the shower and then go on with my day. Washing my scalp with poo whenever I felt it needed it. At night, I would take my ponytail down, spray with my water/oil/condish mix in a spray bottle and cover with a satin scarf or satin skull cap. It was the easiest pregnancy hair I could have asked for. I didn't really DC or anything, just kept them full of condish. Once my ng started growing in at the base of the braids, I would take my ponytail down while watching TV, run my fingers along my parts and gently pull them apart at the base wherever they tried to marry/stick together.
I decided not to use extension hair bc I didn't want the extra issues with buildup at the base to cause a set back. And it's a really cute/versatile style that can rocked down, in a bun or in a ponytail and still look put together. I really didn't want to deal with my new growth while pregnant and it was a great way to focus on other stuff.
GL and I'm wishing you a healthy, happy pregnancy!!![]()
I figured it wouldn’t happen literally the first time we tried since I’m close to “geriatric pregnancy “ age and everyone I know had trouble with getting pregnant/ staying pregnant. We will see, I’m still in the early stages
How much new growth did you have to relax after all that time? When did post partum shedding happen for you?
My hair is very prone to dreads if I’m not careful and I did small braids once for a couple months and it took a week trying to comb out every braid/ dread that formed at the roots.
I think I want to have cornrows and add clips/ sewins, but I wish someone could redo it for me biweekly at least so I could properly wash my scalp. I just feel tired all the time…
I gotchu on remembering the dateJust gonna set this right here in case I forget again
I relaxed today at like 5-6pm? I took a long break between neutralizing and conditioning cause ya girl was getting tired lol. Im just now about sit under the dryer.
Weirdest thing my hair gave my finger an injury as I was smoothing my relaxer. That has never happen before as long as I remember. I gotta wear one glove to do everything else cause it is doing the sore right now![]()
