I seriously believe you could-my hair texture is fairly similar to yours. I also use the rollers with the clamps and add bobby pins which helps provide extra tension

How are you wearing your hair with the set?

Sometimes I wear the curls out, but most of the time I comb them out and do a silk wrap w/or without the saran wrap.

I rollerset my hair and flatironed using my FHI platform and Maxiglide. I used one swipe for each iron. There's also a pic of my silk wrap after a rollerset like I posted in the OP . I think you should try rollersetting, I bet it would look gorgeous
