Rave: I'm FREE ~*~ GOODBYE COMB ~*~

I have to admit I was a bit skeptical when I read about all you other naturals not combing your hair. I just couldn't wrap my mind around it being okay for me to do. I rationalized that somehow your naps were different from my naps, and my naps needed a comb...

Well, this morning, I was pressed for time and I slept with conditioner on my hair last night. So I had no choice but to rinse, quickly moisturize (far less than I usually do), and then throw on a headband before I ran out the door. And it actually looked CUTE!!!! Even when it dried!!!

Sorry I was an unbelieving believer. THANKS! I'M FREEEEEEE! Do you know how much time you've saved me?!? Oh, it's on for the summer!!!

I wish I had y'all kinda naps cause my naps really do need a comb. If I stop combing my ends rebel and start snapping and breaking off like twigs.

glad it works for you though :)

I barely comb my hair, but I do brush it to detangle it in the shower when I wash it once/week. My hair eally doesn't need any more than that. Your hair will thank you :D

I love your afro puff, Kiwi! What do you use as a ponytail holder? Or is it a regular ponytail holder? (I'm trying to find something that's tighter than a headband but looser than when I use a knee high stocking).

And you don't have any breakage brushing your hair while it's wet?

Thanks, nurse. It was definitely worth a try, and I'm so glad I did. Your naps might surprise you like mine did!

Where was that pic taken in your siggie? That's be-a-utiful! It's like taking a little vacation just looking at it. It'd be great to be on an island, sipping a coconut drink...watching the world go by.

Joyful, I'm glad you found something that is working for you!!! I also don't use a comb unless it's to part my hair. Fingercombing is all i do and i absolutely LOVE it!

jasmine your hair is beautiful!

i know i aint natural, but no-combing is sooooo beneficial for the hair.

I only cob while conditioning in the shower or while drenched if I am going to pull my hair back into a puff or ponytail. If I decide to do a fro or fro puff (in album), then I will use my pick, but my hair will have already been detangled while in the shower and then braided to dry.

BTW Jasmine, how did you get the front of your hair so neat? I love it! Beautiful!

This definitely would not work for me but I'm glad you are able to make it work. You will be reaping all kinds of benefits I'm sure!!!

Joyful1, that's great you don't need a comb, b/c I HAVE to comb my hair. I usually comb it out after it conditioner rinse, then I add a leave in and finger comb that through too. I keep my hair detangled fairly well. It sheds too much for me not too!

I'm not natural either, but I gave up combing (and shedding) last month. I had no idea how much wear and tear a comb could cause.

I haven't needed to comb since I bc'd again, but I will be going back to it once I pass shoulder length. The longer my hair is the more I need to comb it

not to hijack the thread either, quickly thanking candyc and chocolate01! Good2u, i'll send a pm

***running out of thread now***

welcome to the club! i haven't combed for like 3 weeks now. even after shampooing :look: my hair seems to do well with fingercombing.

I did have to comb my hair once, a couple of days ago, but that was before I bought some lavender rinse. I've been diluting it and using it as a leave-in. But I'm still loving my freedom.

OH, and Jasmine, your hair is gorgeous! And Flower you are such an INSPIRATION!

I'm not natural either...I gave up combing last week and already my hair is doing much better. It's easier to FEEL the knots and deal with it without raking a comb through it. I have LESS breakage now and no knots/tangles. Doing it in the shower under the water is best. To smooth I then use my baby brush. No more combing for me :)

Um I tried this. My hair is way too thick. It works great when I'm wearing puffs or a fro. Otherwise I need something that can reach the middle of my head. It did help a lot with curl definition.

I don't comb either. I noticed that combing my hair was giving me split ends and breakage. For me, combing with conditioner is a waste of time. As soon as I rinse the conditioner, my hair tangles again. So what's the use?
