My Sulfur 8 bottle still has not showed up. At this point, I'm going to pin my hubby or one of the pets in the corner until someone starts talking.

I want a TWAn lace wig but I don't feel like doing the research to find one.

Hey yall. What did yall buy this week? I ain’t bought a thing hair related. I did get my hair blown out, colored black, and trimmed. I love this color and length!
I'm committing to being a straight hair natural so today I got my hair pressed and trimmed (see attached). I also purchased some Drybar rollers and a mesh hair net (to wrap my hair but still maintain the curls). Beyond this week, I have purchased Drybar dry shampoo, Kitsch satin lined flexirods, Kenra anti-humidity spray, and a light oil.

I've been loving Design Essentials products lately. I was a Redken girl until recently because I'm so tired of the thick conditioners forcing me to pour Draino down my shower :nono:

I think this year I will focus on Design Essentials and MoKnowsHair as my two primary haircare lines. I can't promise that I won't try anything else :look: but I need to exert way more self control than I did last year.

Cool. Will it take some time to transistion? My hair doesn't like to be straight or curl because it's been naturally curly for years.

I may shampoo and blow dry my hair tomorrow. I have some soft rollers that I can sleep in tomorrow night. I want big vintage curls. I’ve done the silky straight (blowout) for years. Now it’s time to experiment with my texture and volume.

Doing the free 30 day Healthy Hair Bootcamp with Shavonda. I'm looking forward to the detailed information she is going to share. Hoping this will help me out in 2026 to get over this hump.

It's day 1 and I'm ready.
I've really enjoyed the few videos I've seen of this bootcamp series. This is how I discovered Shavonda. I totally agree with her views on heat.

I haven't watched all of her videos, especially on heat. There is do much content but I hope to get through it soon.

got my hair done yesterday! got a silk press and trim.

no braids this year. Gonna try out some simple flat twist styles and updos in between silk presses.

I love having a simple regimen

I've been thinking about the "facts" that hair "on average" grows 0.5 inches monthly and sheds 50-100 strands daily. Specifically, how people tend to accept those figures, and how that acceptance informs our attitudes towards haircare and wellness.

I've been trying to nail down which study proves this, but most of what I'm finding is that the American Academy of Dermatology declares the figure, and that other researchers reference this finding, but never cite a particular study. There's this one published in 2016 (though, I remember seeing and hearing this figure long before then) which studies hair growth based on race, but doesn't answer the questions I have. And the only requirements for that one were that participants were 18-35, didn't have alopecia, and had same-ethnicity grandparents and parents. I want to find the study everyone references as "the science" because I need some answers.

Like:
-Were the subjects given a standardized diet optimized for hair growth? If so, were they monitored by the researchers for the duration of the study, or was it more of an honor code agreement?
-Were blood panels done prior to and during the study? If they existed, were deficiencies rectified prior to the study? What happened if one cropped up during the study?
-Was there mandatory exercise? And again, was this monitored or self-reported?
-Were measurements marked and taken from the scalp? Or was overall hair length measured and compared?

Because imo, the "average" person's hair growth ceiling is mutable due to invisible, constantly changing factors. More importantly, hair retention is highly variable for the same reasons, and even more complicated due to regimen. And I very staunchly believe in the power of the mind. If you believe that you can only ever grow 0.5 inches of hair in a month, you'll naturally orient yourself toward that number as an absolute ceiling, cultivating habits that lead to that outcome or less.
