For both permed and natural 4A/Bs: What is your hair care regimen? Also, what are your products that you can't do without? Since becoming a member, I have been trying different things and seeing some results. My products that I can't live w/o are in my siggy, what are yours? I have dry hair, so I'm looking for other products that will be good for my hair type. Thanks in advance! :yep:

Q

ETA: Right now I don't have a set regimen but I will be starting my own challenge soon. I wash hair at least twice a week by slathering it with castor oil, then washing in 4 sections, and condition. Then I put more castor oil on my hair especially the ends, grease my scalp (I have been suffering from dandruff as of late) with sulfur 8, detangle with my bone comb, and braid it in sections. I am wearing scarfs on my head so I don't worry about parting it straight or whatever. Everynight I spray my hair with braid spray, put more oil on my ends and that is it for now. Q

my routine is the journal section of my fotki. i absolutely love ORS replenishing pak for deep conditioning and s-curl on my roots while stretching

I'm currently transitioning - 4A - and I co-wash daily. My staples are:

Nexxus Humectress
Nexxus or Kera Care detangling shampoo - whichever I can find.
Amla Oil
Vatika oil
ACV Rinses
Aveda USC and serum when I wear it straight (which is rare now)
Elasta QP gel (the brown one) when I wear it back, which is everyday.
Clarifying shampoo - any old brand will do.
Henna/Indigo a few times a year

I ordered some JBCO and I think it will arrive today - I can't wait to try it out - it sounds like a keeper.

I also started using MN a few days ago, so I'll see how that goes.

Prior to Vitale Mo Body relaxer, I have used "no-lye"--Mizani sensitive scalp and Phytorelaxer. I have seen a marked improvement with lye relaxers as far as moisture retention. Also, I am incorporating more protein(orally and topically) to embark strength with my hair; I make sure to follow up with Humetress or Kenra for moisture.

A good hair gel - Right now, it's La Bella
Coconut Oil

I wash my hair almost everyday, or everytime I'm in the shower... apply coconut oil as a rinse, and then a combination of gel and conditioner as a leave in. I use regular conditioner (currently Aussie Moist or La Bella Placenta) as a leave in. I also apply a blend of MTG, Doo Gro and BT everynight.

Hey there! I'd say:
  • Surge 14 spray
  • mtg oil
  • hollywood beauty mayonaise egg creme oil
  • Aluminum foil and beads
  • protective styles
  • vitamins, vitamins, vitamins and more vitamins in my fruit smoothie.
  • Suave sea algae shampoo & conditioner

I've just discovered Aubrey Organics honeysuckle rose conditioner. This is the best conditioner I have ever tried and I'm going to stock up. It detangles my uber-thick hair like a dream and made it sooo soft:lick: I will only use it on occasion though, scared of build up. Maybe once every 2weeks for detangling and conditioning. Also, for DC'ing I like Lekair cholesterol mixed with EVOO or some other oil.

Qhemet Biologics moisture products give me the best braidouts and twistouts EVER. Just beautiful healthy hair.

I love to clarify shampoo with Chagrin Valley mud and clay shampoo bar. It smells so good and gives a good lather for clean nice smelling hair. It also doesn't strip the hair.

For co-washes I love VO5. For leave-ins I use Oyin honeyhemp condish. I'm not sure how much I like this though, I will have to use it longer. FOr moisture touchups I spray a mix of distilled water EVOO or Avacado oil with some VO5 condish.

I moisturize twice a day with wave nouveau moisturizing lotion and seal with castor oil. my hair has always been prone to dryness, more so now that it is overprocessed.

I'm relaxed...I use Phyto Index 2 every 8 weeks...I may go 9 weeks this time around. I use Aveda DR 1x per month, the whole set...this is more than enough protein for me. I use Nexxus Therappe/Theratin and Humectress/Humectin for moisture. I just tried Redken All Soft set tonite for moisture. It seemed to work well, although nothing gives moisture like Nexxus to me. I either rollerset or flat iron(later in the relaxer usually beyond 8 wks)...I use Aveda Hang Straight or Nexxus Headress for a leave in. Oils that I use to seal are EVOO, Castor, and Coconut. For serums I like PM Super Skinny Serum and Aveda Brilliant...that's pretty much it for me. I tried Matrix Biolage Hydrating Balm tonite for the first time as a rinse out con...it has awesome slip.

I am texlaxed with ORS olive oil. My texture is a strong 4BZ thick and coarse.

Moisture:
I use a mixture of glycerin, aloe vera and water in a spray bottle for moisture.
a very small amount of shealoe butter on my ends.

On Scalp
Tahitian Ylang Ylang oil with 5 drops of rosemary, sage, cedarwood and lavender.

Ends
100% Coconut oil or
Ylang Ylang mixture or
Olive Oil

Washing
4 plats
Jibere Shower Comb

Avalon Organics Mango with drops of rosemary (clarify)
Nuetrogena Silk Touch Shampoo
Apple Cider Vinegar
Giovanni 50:50 conditioner
Salon Care Almond and Honey conditioner
Deep Conditioner: Aubrey organics Island Naturals/GBP or ORS replenishing pack (softens)

Every 2 months I do an Aphogee protein treatment but i'm finding that my hair may not need this anymore because my hair has been getting brittle ORS replinishing pack is helping my hair get 'balanced' with moisture.

I wash once or twice a week and try to deep condition at least once a week.

I think the best things i use to retain my hair is braiding it while washing and using that shower comb, it really helps to reduce tangling and it prevents me from tugging through my hair so much.

I take Centrum multivitamin and started taking 5000 mcg of biotin

I'm a natural. I love Giovanni Direct Leave in, Hawaiian Silky 14-1 Moisturizer, EQP DPR-11 for Deep conditioning, and I like to try different oils for sealing (castor, amla, africa's best ultimate)for sealing. For washing I use diluted Giovanni Tea Tree poo, that's all the products I use and my hair has been thriving.

I am a 4A natural.

I CW and deep condition my hair every couple of days, then twist my hair and wear twist outs. I use shea butter as my moisturizer. I can't live without it. I use Organics leave in after I CW my hair. I use no heat, just let my hair airdry.

my conditioners are right now for protien ors hair mayo
for moisture it was ntm mask but i'm looking for another 1 but it may end up being Elasta DPR11

co washes are with hello hydration or dove moist intense (not to much anymore) or vo5 strawberries and cream

on deep con day my leave in is rusk smoother during the week it's water and glycerin than seal with evoo but i use butters now to seal the length and castor oil on my ends

I pre-poo/dc with Elasta QP's Intense cond. then shampoo with Elasta's shampoo for relaxed hair, then add Elasta's Recovery oil moisturizer and airdry. I wear a single french braid or twist-outs for my daily style. And I wash one a week. Oh and I'm 4a/relaxed.
