Hi ladies:wave: ,

I know it's been a while since I frequent the boards. I have been on and off for the past couple of weeks, posting in a couple of threads, just trying to stay in game of hair care.

I've been attending Cosmetology school since February and have really been enjoying the class. I also have been in the process of kicking off my own business, I have been at it for over 2 years and everything is just about ready. Going to work, then straight to school 5 days a week then working on my business on the weekends really drains me out. Anyhoo, I just wanted to say that I missed ya'll and hope that everyone is a step closer to their hair goals along with healthy hair.

I've updated my fotki album with a couple of pictures. I'm on the Super Grow Out Challenge and haven't posted any pictures this year.:perplexed I'll be 19 weeks post relaxer tomorrow and have not experience any breakage or abnormal shedding. It's really growing quite nicely. I'm stretching to 24 weeks with only 5 weeks to go:D I'm still amazed that I've only had one relaxer this year and that was on 2/7/05.

Chat with you soon!

You're making great progress, Luvlonghair. Be sure to update us again w/ pics after you get your relaxer. Congrats on being able to stretch that long!

Congrats on your stretch!!! We're both at 19 weeks and goin for 25, but how are you maintaining your hair? Any advice? I'm getting paranoid because my hairdressers can rip through my hair with that fine tooth come when they want to, but I think I need to lay off the stylists and just wash on my own. Sorry for all the questions, but what's your routine and how do you detangle???

Thanks for the compliment OIAM! :) Girl, you need to stay away from those stylists. I could never allow them let alone myself go through my hair with a fine tooth comb. I have been wearing my hair in protective styles for the past 9 weeks. A bun is all I wear. I know it's boring especially since it's the summer time. I really want to wear roller sets or flat wraps, but I'll wait. If you can wear your hair in a protective style, do it. You can wear braid/twist outs, they are really good when you have a lot of new growth. But other than that, I can't tell you, but please stop letting them run a fine tooth comb through your hair.

WOW  LONG TIME NO SEE

I knew you didt desert us. Thats some growth girl. You are doing so well.

Whats your goal now?

Well done for stretching

Keep in touch and keep up the good work x
Hopefully in the next couple of weeks i can post some wonderful progress too

Hey Kizzy, glad to see you too. Thanks for the compliment. It's been a journey, but overall I'm pleased with my results. My goal is to reach bra strap, it just seems so far away. I think I need to adjust my bra strap:grin:

What do fellow students of cosmetology say about your hair? have you learned anything new from going to school? You have come a long way don't stop now.

Hi Hairmaster:wave: Thanks for the compliment. When I first started going to class, I received great compliments and they all asked who was my beautician, I told them that I have been doing my own hair. Of course they were shocked, but I told them that I was part of this forum and printed some pictures from my fotki album to show them my hair from beginning to then. Since then, they've been asking me all type of questions on growing long and healthy hair. Even the naturals ask about how I keep my hair moisturize in order to stretch because moisture is must for naturals as well as relaxed.

To tell you the truth, I've learned a lot from cosmetology, but I can honestly say that I follow about half the rules because I have proof that other things do work. Not saying that the other things are not correct, I just prefer to do what I know works for my hair. I always try their techniques to see if it works for my clients, but when it doesn't work, I go with what I learned from my on trial and errors.
