I've been looking at different comparison pics threads and I'm seeing so much progress for both natural and relaxed ladies. In the BC progress thread alone I've saw 4-6 inches on average in less than a year. To me this just reinforces the fact that our hair grows like everybody elses. It makes me think about why we all don't have hair hanging down our backs? I suppose the only thing blocking our hair from long lengths is indeed us.
No rocket science here just a little rant. Grow on ladies. Grow on..............

You have had wonderful progress with you hair and as for your daughter OOTW (out of this world!)

ITA, Our hair does grow like everyone else, I just think some of us want color or to change and but still want our hair to say long, and sometimes one little thing can cause a MAJOR problem or setback, and many ladies don't want anything past apl or bsl...I mean I want color so bad.....but I want my growth more......so I just have to be happy with what I have!!!

Definitely. That's the first obstacle to overcome on the quest to having long hair-- realizing that your hair grows at the same rate as every other woman's. It's just what you do to it that makes the difference.

I think AA women grow just as much even faster for some than other races we just have problems RETAINING because we have the weakest hair by nature. If our hair was as naturally strong as say asian hair then I think black women with long hair would be the norm.

But with sites like this we are learning how to retain. Sucks that we have to work harder at it than other races but it's the hand we've been dealt and I think most of us are doing an awesome job!
