cutebajangirk, are you serious??? You don't live in the City , do you? Most women here have phony ponies (with extra gel), over processed hair that's just soooo damaged
, micro braids, cornrows (not so bad).
Even people with straight hair tend to mess it up, at least that's what I see. I see hundreds of white girls with hair bleached within an inch of it's life.
SOME women have pretty, healthy hair, but that's the minority.

I am mad someone said I look like the oracle from the matrix (the first two oracle) with my braidouts, which I dont know how to respond too. My braidout pic is in my photo album!

I'm not sure why they would say that, your braidout pic looks very nice!
Okay I don't see too many women my age because I live in the country, but when I do see hair at my job I see: Protective Buns (with edges intact), relaxed hair worn out (with edges intact). But when I go home I see all kinds of weird looking stuff when I take the ferry across the river. I have seen no edges with ponytail screaming for it's life. Gelled down phonytails (and I must emphasize the gel). My inlaws are creole, so I don't count them because a lot of them have unrelaxed curly/straight hair. And the ones who wear relaxers do so and have healthy looking hair.
I haven't been down in NO in a while, so I don't really know how they are wearing their hair.
27 Step Ponytails--I'm not exactly sure what this is.
It's not a ponytail, though. I think it's just a short hair weave. It involves 27 pieces of fake hair and some glue.
This is soooo ugly, I hate this. I've seen it in SBH. I can't beleive people actually wear this.

Actually it depends on the way its done, I have a girlfriend that had it done but not in a ponytail. it was done more like a full head weave that had a layered cut and was flipped up ends. It was really a very cute short neat style. That is if we're talking about the same thing.

Your braidouts look great, and I'm sure the oracle's did as well (I haven't seen the matrix

Yup. I live in the Bronx and Queens. Every morning going to work I see women with shoulder length hair roller set hair. The only people I see with messed up hair are some older women but anyone in their mid 30's down pretty much been caught on to the Dominican fad so they have healthy hair.

I've gotten some stares when wearing braidouts too. I like the style, it's a nice change of pace from having stick straight hair all the time. By the way, looking at your avatar is like staring into a mirror, I've found my long lost twin, lol

Who knows maybe we are related. I do have a lot of family and we all look alike even the distant relatives. I really love my braid out and most of the people who know me, for example, my aunt, Mom, and Grandma all think that it is cute. I love it and my hair loves it so I wear it whenever possible.
Here in Baltimore, I see a lot of wrapped hair with flipped ends, layered bobs, braids, afros, phony tails, and some really ghetto-fabulous weaves. I'm just glad the Marge Simpson do's are over with!!
I live in New Orleans and we have it all. Half the ladies I see wear buns which are not protective style buns. I don't know where the popularity with buns came from. Natural hair styles of course. Like twists, fros, locs, and braids/cornrows. Alot of women I see have dyed their hair fushia, or bright red like Charlie Baltimore. It doesn't look good though. I don't know if it's a hairstyle, but I believe some people think it is, and it's walking around with hair rollers. I have seen too many women out in public shopping/dining with hair rollers in their hair.
Lol at us being related I do have a lot of family members that I've never met all over the U.S. so ya never know...
As for more hairstyles, a lot of people have nice styles done with microbraids. If there are weaves, they are virtually undetectable. It seems that a lot of people have caught on to the concept of healthy haircare versus simply getting their hair done for the style. However, I'm not originally from the area so if there are jacked up styles out there, I haven't seen them yet, lol. Back home is a different story, lots of "hard" looking styles, slicked back with gel, multi or should I say "tri-colored" obvious weaves, and some people are still rockin the 10 foot high/heavy enough to give you a headache styles. I don't have any problem with weaves, but if I ever decided to wear one I would try not to make it too heavy, don't the heavy ones put a lot of stress on the hairline?
I see a LOT of weaves and phony ponytails in ugly colors like butterscotch or black with bright blue or red ends. About 25% of the AA women I see are natural, mostly with twa's or short twists. A few loc'd women and men. Most common of all is neck-length relaxed hair cut into bobs.
I'm on the prairies in Canada and the styles I see range from weave, braids, naturals (twists, afros, cornrows), phony pony, relaxed, etc...you name it I've seen it. However I see very few relaxed heads with nice hair. Although, I don't know what may be hiding under those weaves and braids as many of you ladies with nice hair wear weaves and braids for protection and growth.
Furthermore, I must say that I have never seen one of those wild styles that I've seen women wear on the Ricki Lake Show. Do people actually wear these styles on a regular basis. (you guys know what I'm talking about don't you
Well one style that I am seeing a lot of is multi colored braided extensions. People get a ton of different colors braided in their hair...all at the same time. It is truly an atrocious look!
Last time I checked, I saw a lot of the younger set wearing the hard side pony tails in Chicago. Down in boonies, I see a mild assortment of healthy hair to hair that has been jacked up to the roots.

I know what you're talking about. Did anyone else see the episode of Ricki about the "weavemaster contest?" It was on about a week or two ago. The guy who won created a weave in which he programmed a remote control toy helicopter to fly from the lady's hair
. It was really creative, but I truly hope nobody is wearing anything like that on the street, lol.
Wraps, wraps, wraps.....micros, micros, micros. Micros! Fried, dyed, laid to the side. More natural heads popping up though. Did I mention micros? Seems like everybody got 'em!

Whenever I wear mine people ask why do I need a relaxer when my hair is naturally wavy. Being a 4b, the feeling only lasts a day though.
