I just did one last night but no pics hahaha...

It is really quick and easy. I think it takes about the same amount of time to dry if not less. I dont experience any breakage. You just have to be careful when you are taking the ponytail holders out.

Pokahontas has photos in her album.

Bad Marie, you know you're suppose to be taking pictures so I can see.:spinning:

-I've only done it twice, but so far, so good. I tried to set my hair without the ponytail holders once, and it didn't work out so well. Then again, I was inpatient and couldn't wait for my hair to fully dry, so that probably contributed to it.

Any damage from it?

-Nope.

Does it take a lot longer to dry?

-Well, it takes me about 30 minutes to blow dry my hair, and almost 2 hours to dry my rollerset under a soft bonnet cap. But rollerset curls can be so pretty ...so I try not to compare the times of other methods since I'm going for a different end result with a rollerset versus if I'm getting my hair just blow-dried straight.

Pics?:grin::grin::grin::grin::grin:

-Pics and details here:

My answers are above ^^^ Hope this helps....

i tried it but i couldnt get rid of the "dent" from the ponytail holder

Once your hair is about 80% dry, it helps to go through and "pull" each ponytail holder down a little, so it dries fully. It "may" also help with your "dents".

I flat iron my roots after setting to get rid of the kinks/dents/humps...

say it aint so!!! U didnt blow out your roots? That could have helped.....

You know, i tried that but i ended up blowing out the curls in the process. My supa dupa blowfryer was supa dupa heavy and i couldnt control it. I had to move on to just plain ole roller setting. I wish that it had worked out for me

I tried it a few times and don't really care for it. The roots take too long to dry, and I don't like the dents the ponytail holders leave. I'm in bootcamp, so I can't use heat to straighten them out. So I either have to put it back in a pony or put a handband on to mask the dents in the front. I also don't like taking the ponytail holders out, no matter how gentle I am, I still pull out a few hairs... I use the no snag ones, too :ohwell: Also, the hot air from the dryer burns my scalp because with all of the parts in my head, it's easy for the hot a** air to go directly to my scalp. Ponytail rollersetting is just not for me :nono:

I HAD pics on the old Healthy Textures site, but they've been deleted because of the new site :perplexed

Oh heck to no I wont be doing this then lol thanks Tiff!

I like it. I can set it quicker, get my roots straighter, and it dries faster, no damage (b/c I use damage free pony holders). I have pics at home, I'll try to remember to post them......

Eta: for the dent problem I always take out the rollers and then wrap, then sit back under the dryer for 10 minutes, but that' s b/c I like my rollersets str8

I did the same thing the first time I tried a ponytail rollerset. I did the "silk wrap"...I believe Pokahontas has instructions on it. After rollersetting, you wrap your hair, then secure with saran wrap. Then sit under the dryer for about 10 minutes (probably no more than that). Then comb it down for a straighter look, but your hair should still have "bounce" to it.

I was thinking, if the roots take longer to dry, and have dents anyway, why not go ahead and blow them out (if you can)? A little water, according to Macherie, is supposed to help with blowing out the roots. So maybe this could be a better option than regular rollersetting, esp. with longer hair.

I JUST WANT TO SEE MORE PICS:grin::grin::grin::grin:

Are you trying to acheive a straight look or are you leaving some curl in?

Straight look with body.

well I dont think having dents afterwards is gonna matter cause once you blow your hair out and/or do the saran wrap, they are gonna be gone. I leave my ponytail rollersets curly and after I apply my serum and a few swipes of the comb or brush, the dents are history.

oh ok thanks hun!

this is the only type of rollersetting i will do. the dominican blowouts dont compare to when i do my thing. the roots issue doesnt bother me because i either a) blow dry or flat iron my roots anyway or b) don't comb out the curls. i am a strong proponent of ponytail rollersetting, especially if you are natural.

I love the ponytail rollerset method. I haven't had any damage...only been doing it for about 2 months. For me, it doesn't take any longer than a rollerset to dry. After about 50 minutes, I remove the ponytail holders and then sit back under the dry for another 12 minutes. I then flatiron the roots to remove the dents and so far so good!

What are your experiences with this method?

Nothing but good experiences. I will not set my hair any other way because this way gets my roots straight and it's just easier to do since my hair is so curly and long. I have hair everywhere trying to set the regular way.

Any damage from it? No damage at all.

Does it take a lot longer to dry? Not at all....same as a regular set. As long as you're not doing your ponies too big you should be fine.

Pics?:grin::grin::grin::grin: I do have pics in my album which you've probably already seen. I'll be working on new ones the next time I do a roller set. I will attach two pics....the first one is a ponytail set that I was extremely lazy with and did only four ponytails. It turned out pretty good though. The second pic is the ponytail set brushed out w/no additional heat.

TIA!!

This sounds bad but I use rubber bands on my ponytails for the set. I'm very careful and when my hair dries I just break or cut them off:blush:. I haven't seen any damage from this. I think I would get more damage from something I had to actually take off my hair w/o breaking it, like a regular hair band. My hair would probably get tangled all up in that thing.

What are your experiences with this method? I am just learning and love it.

Any damage from it? Not so far I am very careful and go slowly.

Does it take a lot longer to dry? My dryer is kind of crappy so it takes a long time and my hair is really thick so it takes awhile.
