What are your experiences with this method?
-I've only done it twice, but so far, so good. I tried to set my hair without the ponytail holders once, and it didn't work out so well. Then again, I was inpatient and couldn't wait for my hair to fully dry, so that probably contributed to it.
Any damage from it?
-Nope.
Does it take a lot longer to dry?
-Well, it takes me about 30 minutes to blow dry my hair, and almost 2 hours to dry my rollerset under a soft bonnet cap. But rollerset curls can be so pretty...so I try not to compare the times of other methods since I'm going for a different end result with a rollerset versus if I'm getting my hair just blow-dried straight.
Pics?

say it aint so!!! U didnt blow out your roots? That could have helped.....
I tried it a few times and don't really care for it. The roots take too long to dry, and I don't like the dents the ponytail holders leave. I'm in bootcamp, so I can't use heat to straighten them out. So I either have to put it back in a pony or put a handband on to mask the dents in the front. I also don't like taking the ponytail holders out, no matter how gentle I am, I still pull out a few hairs... I use the no snag ones, tooAlso, the hot air from the dryer burns my scalp because with all of the parts in my head, it's easy for the hot a** air to go directly to my scalp. Ponytail rollersetting is just not for me
I HAD pics on the old Healthy Textures site, but they've been deleted because of the new siteerplexed
I like it. I can set it quicker, get my roots straighter, and it dries faster, no damage (b/c I use damage free pony holders). I have pics at home, I'll try to remember to post them......
Eta: for the dent problem I always take out the rollers and then wrap, then sit back under the dryer for 10 minutes, but that' s b/c I like my rollersets str8
I was thinking, if the roots take longer to dry, and have dents anyway, why not go ahead and blow them out (if you can)? A little water, according to Macherie, is supposed to help with blowing out the roots. So maybe this could be a better option than regular rollersetting, esp. with longer hair.
I JUST WANT TO SEE MORE PICS![]()
Are you trying to acheive a straight look or are you leaving some curl in?
Straight look with body.
well I dont think having dents afterwards is gonna matter cause once you blow your hair out and/or do the saran wrap, they are gonna be gone. I leave my ponytail rollersets curly and after I apply my serum and a few swipes of the comb or brush, the dents are history.
What are your experiences with this method?
Nothing but good experiences. I will not set my hair any other way because this way gets my roots straight and it's just easier to do since my hair is so curly and long. I have hair everywhere trying to set the regular way.
Any damage from it? No damage at all.
Does it take a lot longer to dry? Not at all....same as a regular set. As long as you're not doing your ponies too big you should be fine.
Pics?I do have pics in my album which you've probably already seen. I'll be working on new ones the next time I do a roller set. I will attach two pics....the first one is a ponytail set that I was extremely lazy with and did only four ponytails. It turned out pretty good though. The second pic is the ponytail set brushed out w/no additional heat.
TIA!!
