My church was blessed to be able to open it's own Academy a few years back. They want to expand the school's fine arts program but could really use the help of this grant to do so.
Expand our Fine Arts to provide students a more balanced education.
Central Academy at Lake Park, Indian Trail, NC
Program Detail:
We are a small K12 school and we do not have a full Fine Arts Program. Currently music and art are offered for our students but with limitations due to inadequate funding. Music is offered for our K5 students where they have exposure to music theory, composers, reading music and awareness of string instruments, percussion and keyboard. At the middle and high school level, as an elective students are able to participate in the praise band. In previous years we were fortunate to have someone coordinate a theatrical production in the spring. We were so amazed at the gifts and talents of our students because we have never been given an opportunity to develop their creativity. The production had to be held at an off campus facility that could better accommodate a play. Unfortunately we were unable to have a production last year due to lack of funds and a coordinator.
How this Grant will Help:
A $50,000 grant would allow Central Academy at Lake Park the opportunity to enhance our current program by expanding music and art to include musicals, as well as sculpting, pottery and various other artistic ventures. This opportunity would also allow our school to add a small band, drama, and theatre. We believe that every child is special and those that possess gifts in the area of fine arts would be given the opportunity to express themselves. A strong Fine Arts Program would help in the growth of our school. We recognize that the arts are a very integral part of student development and a key component of a balanced education. Students that are able to participate in the fine arts are better prepared to excel academically, socially and spiritually. We want to educate the WHOLE child!
