My cousins are like that. Messed up, thin, damaged hair they keep hidden under weaves, yet they always have some hair advice for you. They used to call me delusional all the time. Now, when they see that whatever I am doing is working-- now they want to play the, "well, you always had that good hurrr that grows..."

Really? Because a couple of years ago, you were the same chicks calling me all kinds of bald headed.

Ignore them and let your hair do the talking.

i cant when people say your is growing because its "Good" WTF is that supposed to mean?
there certain textures that are easier to work with but all is hair is good , im 4b and i have achieved growth so i know the "good hair "excuse is just bs. They just cant admit that your were right.

Just let your hair progress speak for itself. Or shut them down verbally. I used to get comments like that and funny looks. I just ignored them. Now that my progress is obvious most of the negative people keep their mouths shut and just look.

In particular there's one lady at work who used to have longer, fuller hair when I first started working there. I had asked her a couple of years ago if she knew someone who could do hair and she gave me a card for one of her cousins or friends. Then I found this forum and changed my mind about going to the beautician. Ever since, every time I come into work she gives me the stink eye and looks at my hair like she has a problem. Well these days her hair is no longer even SL its NL and the ends are so see-through it's a shame. I saw a picture of her in her younger days and she had full, thick healthy looking SL hair. You'd think she'd ask me how I'm getting my hair to grow but, no.

Anyways, I just feel sorry for her and people like her.

yeah there is this miserable lady at my job who is always criticizing my style and how i wear my hair....this lady has her hair in a "bun" lookin like a doberman pinscher's little tail nub..:lachen:...her hair has been the same length for 3 years and has no life to it.....she needs to be concerned with her own crop and stop worrying about what i got goin on over here!

yes, and I also run into a lot of ladies who just cut their hair, or are just keeping it short for the summer.

This one chick told me she was natural, took her wig off and had one inch of see through straight hair. She had the nerve to tell me that she cuts it and in 6 months it's long again.

I bought some condtioner at big lots, and although it was good advice it was unsolicitated and coming from a dry natural head dyed a dull blonde, cut into a very low fro. Anyways, she told me I shouldn't use shampoo with sulfates because it dries our hair. Although if course I already knew this,I acted amazed. It annoys me when people wanna talk hair and tell me what to do, when i'm already doing just fine. See GG's,natural locs above. I got this.

Don't let my mom try and tell it lol. But she is mommy gotta love her.

My sisters and female cousins. Their hair keeps shrining but I went from a TWA to past APL in less than 2 years and they cant figure it out.

this is my mom all day. she kind of hates the fact that my hair is natural, and failing that, she would obviously prefer that i wear my hair straightened. like, there is no other way to put it than she thinks cottony, kinky, big, characteristically black looking hair is just not a good look.

she doesnt give me advice on styling and care anymore now that shes seen me grow my hair out but she is still always commenting on how my hair is not "combed" and those kinds of comments that we have all heard before. she also expresses skepticism at some of the things i do now (like clarifying with baking soda and out of the ordinary things like that).

she refuses to consider growing out her relaxer despite the fact that her hair is so broken off now it is less than an inch long in some places  i wish she would take MY advice.

Yes - everyone is so worried with why I never wear my hair down and/or do anything with it. Blah Blah. I simply ignore them and let them talk. When I wear a wig, they are worried if it's my hair or not. It's always something. Mind you, some of the same ppl that's so interested rock wigs or phony ponies daily. I don't get how ppl have double standards. It's not okay for me to rock a wig but it's okay for you? Don't get it. Don't care to get it. I just KIM and let them talk. Dueces.

my cousin asked me to be a bridesmaid at her wedding last yr when i still had apl relaxed hair. I bc'd a cpl of months ago and she asked me to put some texturiser in it at least so i dont look 'unkempt'.smh. Now i love my cousin to death but that was some ignorant mess......plus, her stringy hair has been looking u kempt for a minute now........AND HOLD UP: What grows out of my head is inappropriate???? Hahahaha
