Wowzers! I have never seen anything like that! So much smoke. And then they kept adding product after product, is it any wonder it was stiff as a board when they were done? All that for average to below average results! Wow.

I swear, sometimes I think I should open my own salon because I do better than that on a daily basis. It's not rocket science...why wouldn't you be worried when you see that much smoke?

It looks pretty now, but in a month it won't be. When I use to frequent Dominican salons I'd rarely allow the stylist to blow dry...when I did it was my roots only because I was stretching. I'd also bring all of my own products and made sure a heat protectant + leave-in's were applied.

WTF....With all that heat I was waiting for her entire head to go up in flames and catch on fire:burning:

This is what a Dominican blow out looks like. Its good for people to see this and make an edumacated decision on whether they want to get this or not. I got this done in November and my hair reverted back to curly. If I were to do this on a weekly basis tho... I'd be bald headed LOL Well I would lose all my length for sure. I should know, I used to do this once a week and wonder why my hair never grew past SL!

^^^Boston, I think that's the key, some people get their blowout weekly and if their hair can't handle it, then its probably not the process itself that is damaging, but rather the frequency. I have fine strands of hair and my hair couldn't take it. after one time my hair would probably be heat damaged.

Know thy hair. lol

i think in this case a lot of the smoke may have come from the product she used on her hair prior to. just a thought because i know if i use too much coconut oil on my hair, when i blowdry, it will smoke and i don't have a pro dryer, mine won't get near as hot, but depending on the product i apply- i get smoke:rolleyes:

I'm pretty sure her hair could have been flat ironed after the roller set using the comb chase method and It would've been straight.

Check out the "ouch!" at 9:01

Ok. it don't seem like there were much product added to the back of her hair.. The heat of the blow dryer and flat iron, especially the way they blow dry ... too much.. I'll pass.. See some ladies hair be so cute but I don't like that much manipulation.. To each its own

I think that is steam coming out of the blow dryer, but either way, 3 stages of hiar straightening is a lot.

It is easy for me to say this now, now that I am armed with knowledge, but I look at that and think that if you have to do all that to your hair to get it straight, maybe it's just not supposed to be straight.

If I was going to do that, I'd just relax.

when i was relaxed i used to go to the dominicans and that place would be smokin literally...the reason i started going is because i found out my friend was really natural but her hair was always silky bone straight b/c she went to them for roller sets/blowouts, so i wanted to see what they could do...every time i went my hair would be swangin and the new growth looked like i had a fresh relaxer...my hair did seem to thrive during the couple of months i went, but the driers are def turned up to the max while your hair dries in rollers, and then blown out with a round brush and blow dryer thats steaming (even tho she always used a heat protectant), and then most ppl get it flat ironed after, but i never saw the need to do that (well, only my bang)...now that im natural im absolutely paranoid of direct heat b/c i dont wanna damage my curls, but i gotta admit her end results were nice

Her hair look dull and greasy at the same time. All of that heat and all of those steps to end up with a hair do that looks just regular, nothing spectacular. I'll pass on the heat, I was frowning while watching. And that shampoo.......

Didn't even get 5 min into it and I was already upset at the way she was washing her hair in the beginning :angry2:

That's why I stopped going to salons. I hate they way they wash hair .. woman didn't even do her scalp properly. Second I've never seen such a terrible roller set. Don't get me started on all that heat :hardslap:

I don't think a blow-dry+press is a problem BUT when it's done too often and with heat that high, IT DEFINATELY IS. The end results are good, but considering what her poor hair went through, I was kind of expecting more. She's a trooper though because I didn't see her flinch or nothing lol...shoot, the 3 times I went to the Dominican salon I was flinching, making these ugly scrunched-up faces, and had a couple tears run down my cheeks lol, and i've never been the "tender-headed" type.

The stylists put way too much product; thus, the finished product looked stiff and lifeless like a helmet. That looked like steam she was applying, not smoke- either way, too much heat IMO. Her hair appeared to formerly be 4b, what it is now is HEAT DAMAGED, and if she keeps that " heat training" up, she'll stay at that length or shorter forever.

I would never get a dominican blowout, but to each one's own.

Her hair looked fine at 3 mins 40 seconds

Oh my look at all of that steam. Ouch for me and bravo to her.
