i dunno... i grew up around chicks who got this done like every other week they whole life and have beautiful hair. lots of people go to dr salons for a reason.

i personally love dr salons but i only go for a wash and roller set. i never got the blow out cause my mamma wouldnt let me lmao

My hair would simply surrender! and walk right off my darn head! Seriously!

I'm gonna be doing this~~~> :nono: all day thinkin' about all that heat smokin' from that blow dryer. CRINGE!!

Someone in the comments said that it's a steam blowdryer, which is apparently supposed to be healthier than a normal dry one. Looks good though, I'd love to get it done at least once :D

What the hell! I can't believe she flat ironed it after all that. I highly doubt the Dominican salon I go to even have flat irons and I seen them do natural hair just fine... Is it typical for them to use a flat iron after a blow out?

Thats retarded why soooo much heat. She went thru 3 stages of heat.

OH MY!! Thats a whole lotta heat, and for what?? The end oriduct wasnt that dang amazing!! I know her hair hates her!

yup!! 3:nono:

She must have hair made of steel because wth would you need the blow dryer of hell and then a follow up from the hottest flat iron on earth.

And I still didn't see no swang... SMH

Yup, I personally am Dominican and to us, the more heat the better. I on the other hand, went the more healthier route and know better. But yes, typically they will follow up with a flat iron after being under a hooded dryer for an hour and getting your hair blown out rigt after.
My mom was blow drying my roots the other day after a roller set and said " I think we need a hotter blow dryer". i said, "noooo ma'am"

Ahotter blow dryer? Really?

Good lord! I stopped at the roundbrush fry. Poor lifeless limp hair wouldn't even curl with the roundbrush. Can you imagine the smell of that smoke? :barf:

LOL It looks like that every time I go but they never flat iron after unless I want them to bum my ends. My hair loved it, I haven't been in a long time but I never got damage or breakage. I also think sitting under the dryer is hotter. Its more steam then smoke and there is no smell. :)

So...
If i'm putting my hair through all that heat.... my WGF better be on point!! Ugh its lifeless! But...giving credit they did get it straight.....

couldn't the same effect have just been achieved with a good old press and curl? less phases of heat and if done' properly, less passes of heat per treatment.

I was looking at some more of their videos and I watched several passes of the flat iron but their clients hair STILL wouldn't curl.

A lot of that hair looked like it had substantial heat damage.

BTW i have a friend who is 100% natural and im guessing her hair type may be 4b. i've witnessed her first hand, go from curly to relaxer looking straight by simply blowdrying it herself and flat ironing her hair. . .on a low temp.

Dont shoot me but i would love to try this once :look:

ETA: Minus the multiple pass flatironing

my 4zzz hair needs heat training :yep:

I voted it's normal and that i've gotten it done before. (minus the flat iron.) I've never seen a flat iron being used in any Dominican salon that I've been in. I don't know if it's steam heat, but I will tell you that my scalp was on fire. FIRE I say. After it's done, they just wrapped the hair in pins.

Would i do it again? No. I haven't had a blow out/doobie since the 90s.

OMG it look like a brushfire bout to start kickin on that girl's head!!!...Did ya'll see all that smoke!!!!:nono:

Adora you is crazy wit dat gif tho!

ITA.

This is a routine process that is done at least 50 times a day in any Dominican salon sans the flat iron. I actually used to endure this process every two weeks for years.

I voted you couldn't pay me.

That's just too much heat. All that smoke!?!

Nah man. Anything past the rollerset is too much for me. lol

Looks like when I went to the Dominican salon at the beginning of June. *shrug*

Of course I DC heavily beforehand....and load up on heat protectant. My stylist doesn't use a flat iron either. But it gets my hair pin straight...and I have never experienced heat damage.

this has been posted before during the anti DR week, lol. by the way, I've never been to a DR.....
