Whaaaaat?!?!?! Why, Tracy? I love black personally, but even it scares me to do it so drastically, that's why I'm taking the gradual route. I'm too chicken! I'll be jet black by December, LOL! I think it's a nice color all the way around...it looks shinier..easier to match w/weave (to me), and I think my complexion looks better with jet black.
I've done jet black before and it didn't take me long at all, maybe an hour or two, seriously. I think black looks nice with my complexion and Tracy, after seeing how nice your skin color is, I think black is going to look really nice on you as well. You'll get used to it, really you will. And of course, you MUST let us see. Let us ease the shock for you by the many compliments you're sure to get!!!
What happened?? You didn't like the Bronze after all??? I thought it looked so nice on you!!
Please post pictures!! I'm sure it looks good on you.
Although it will probably take a while until you (and everyone else!!!) gets used to the new you. That's quite a drastic change, going from really light to really dark.
I was blue black to very dark black for years....so I know the color sort of works on me - it's just after the light hair it looks so STARK you know?
Lindy - I LOVED the bronze - but because I had highlights and the lightest blond underneath it would go VERY blond sometimes. Add that to the fact that I'm going to be going on a lot of interviews in the next six months and I just was going for a more serious look.....
Well I look SERIOUS alright!
Seriously pale!I should have started with a very dark brown. Let this be a lesson to all of you!
(See what I mean about being a daredevil? This is what happens to daredevils...
)
I'll get used to it. I just have tio adjust my makeup and stuff. And my eye needs to adjust. I keep walking by mirrors and windows and scaring the
out of myself!
I tried to post pics but my digicam charger was at work last night and it needed charging. I'll post pics tonight.
OY! Why do I DO this to myself.
Karonica - the color was L'Oreal Casting Glossy Black. It didn't say or look like it was a blue black, but it's sure looking that way...it's a demipermanent. I'm HOPING it'll tone itself down JUST a little. Pray for me.
Tammy - thank you for the encouragement and the sweet compliment. Black, if it's too black, actually makes my skin look a little sallow. It needs a little redder undertone. If I'm lucky, and it lightens up a little, I'll go with a Mahoghany color for maintenance.
OY! :sigh:
It looks healthy, and it looks way thicker, but it's dark. Like midnight in the blackout dark. Like Salma Hayek dark. It's dark.
Tracy, girl, you've got me looking up the word sallow. Uh, no, we don't want you looking sickly, so any adjustments that you feel you need to make, do your thang.
I just got used to my color. It looked really black in person. Most people liked it. But since it's a semi-permanent, the color is starting to wash out some. It's going slowly though.
What kind of comments have you been getting from friends & family?? Probably
, I imagine???
I can't wait to see the pictures!!
You are so funny, about shocking yourself when you look in the mirror. I remember a few years ago, I had gone back to my natural dark brown color because my then boyfriend's mother made a comment about my haircolor being "from a bottle."
Well, I hated it. My skin is really light in the winter, so dark hair just makes me look washed out, so I ended up going back to the light color. And things didn't work out with that guy anyhow!!!
I've colored my hair jet black before and even though my hair is dark brown with a few reddish brown highlight naturally and it didn't seem like a big change, at first it scared the heck out of me, too. Since I'm lighter than I am dark, I thought I looked a little washed out but everyone love, love, loved it! My hair looked so shiny and people thought it made me look exotic because it was so dark. So eventually I got used to it and I'm sure you will, too!
I'm sure your hair looks great Tracy!!!
I was checking out some sites on hair colour and it said that ladies with a nice profile and complexion (such as yourself) can use dark hair to bring attention to their face. Highlights and blond tones draws attention away.
I dyed my hair black sometime late June, or early July. I have pictures of it in the photo gallery. You can't tell the difference in the album, but people definately took notice. It's starting to fade though. But since I've tanned this summer the color doesn't look too washed out.
I'm sure it doesn't look bad on you, only your eye and makeup having to make an adjustment after having bronze hair...Which looked great on you BTW..And the reddish/auburn color did as well...

Tracy, was this your first time using the L'oreal Casting? Didn't they come out with a new formula that's supposed to be less drying? How did your hair feel afterwards?
Jen - I have ALWAYSloved Casting. Even before they changed it. It's color is very rich and true and I've used it several times to cover light hair. That's why I bought it!
My hair is a smooth. But a tiny little more fuzzy than normal.
But I'll tell ya this much - the black makes it look exceptionally shiny and healthy. It's no less soft if that's what you mean.
