UpDaTe: I'm still in kinky twists. Saturday will make it 6 weeks. I'll have to wait until March to give progress shots.

I am still in twist too! Man I cant wait til March to get these out. I will submit an update photo the first Sat. in March! I cant wait to hit shoulder length but man my neck is long!

I would like to join the shoulder length challenge. I just started my regimen today. My hair is relaxed. today i suave & nexxus to shampoo (clarify & moisturize). I then used ors mayo for a deep conditioner and following up with nexxus humectress. Then I used IC Moisterizing Leave In and roller set my hair. I finished up with carol's daughter hair butter and cd hair elixir to seal it.:drunk:

I'm in braids until March. I've been using Surge 14 and Hawaiian Silky 14 in1 daily. I'm also working on making a homemade Ayurvedic scalp oil.

I took out some kinkies to see where I'm at and I'm measuring slightly over 9 inches in some spots so hopefully I'll be at my goal in April instead of June. I'm keeping the kinkies in for 4 more weeks. The countdown has begun.

Just checking in. Joined the "Twist for Growth" Challenge, so I'm just wrapping up my first week. I try to keep my hair in twists for about a week and a half at a time, twist out for a few days, then DC, co-wash, retwist. My hair has really thrived with that reggie. We'll see whether I get to full shoulder by the summer time.

I'm going on 11 weeks posts and have had braids for almost 4 weeks. I'm trying to decide whether I'm going to do a 6 month stretch. Still using Surge and Worlds of Curls spray daily along with my Ayurvedic oils.

still going strong. i hope i will get my 5 inches by April. i am still wearing twists. i believe i will reach SL this summer.

February Check up:

I too have braids in my head: micros. Just took out a sew-in about 2 weeks ago. i never did have a twa pic so i will just have to go off the pics i took after taking down my sew-in. I recently found my old camera that includes pictures of my relaxed hair when it was damaged i hope to post soon once getting those onto a cd. I hope to keep the braids in until April. I have yet to master the technique of washing my hair while in braids or using diluted shampoo..so for now i clean them w/ ORS dry shampoo...I moisture my hair w/ a mixture of water, aloe vera juice, and glycerin w/ a seal of coconut oil.

how do you dry your hair. on the pics you post, the puff was nicely blown out and the pic you have in your siggy now shows your hair straightened but not too straight as it goes into a nice puff. how do you get your hair to look so nice?

Hello Ladies

I am so discouraged. I have been at neck length for sometime now. I just took down my sew-in yesterday and guess what? I am still at neck length. My hair can get into a ponytail but its short and cannot really be worn out. I am re-installing the sew-in tomorrow and hoping there will be some progress.
My hair is thick and looks healthy but not much length.

I hope to be full SL in May/June with hair that can do a decent bun.

(I am taking care of it under the sew-in. With regular washing and conditioning. I am trying to hide my hair in braids and weaves to help me retain length and avoid heat.)

Good Luck Ladies

I have a TWA

I would join this...but after looking at things...doubt one can grow SL hair from twa in a year lol
I will be stalking this thread though to see results

Last night ive relaxer my hair with ors regular.... After i shampoo, apply 2 min recon aphogee, then dc for 20 min.... My hair is coming along great

Checking in. I'm coming along, I guess. Wearing twists, DCing weekly, trying to keep up with my vitamins. Also trying to combat breakage and dryness. I lost a lot of hair yesterday while washing, so I probably won't be wearing my twists as small as my avatar pic again. They were tangled so badly, I know I was ripping them out. :nono:

Also still looking for a regimen that works as well as staple products! Of all the products I've tried, at this point the things I definitely plan on buying again are:

ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo
CON Detangling Shampoo
Aphogee 2 Minute Reconstructor
EVOO
Coconut oil
Sally's GVP Humectress
Hollywood Beauty Olive Creme

Pre-pooing, weekly DCs, and oil rinsing are going to be facts of my life from now on. :yep: I want to try co-washing in between shampoos/DCs, but probably not while I'm still wearing twists. Wetting my hair while in twists = tangle city.

As you can see, my hair is looking healthier each week!

Sorry this is bad pic, but my hair in the back ends right where my fingers are pinched together. So it's really the sides that I'm worried about, I want my SL to look full & thick! I won't be straightening it again until the end of this challenge.

checking in! i took my braids out finally and i just put an olive oil touch up (tu) in last night. it was the longest process ever with my newborn but i got it done. it seems like his pacifier kept falling out of his mouth every 5 secs....now if i didn't have anything to do, he would have been quiet as a mouse. it looks like where my hair had broken off if also groing out nicely as well. i may keep my hair up in a pony or something, i'm not sure yet, definitely off my neck and away from my shirts. i want to braid it back up since growth is noticeable.

-oh yeah, i haven't been pooing too often neither.

Update for February.
I have been doing pretty much the same thing each week which is shampoo, DC without heat, roller set then braid back in one. I don't think my hair is being detangled easily enough. I think I am losing too much hair on wash days so I am concerned about wether I will make it to SL by June.
How much hair do you natural ladies lose in your comb on wash days?
How much hair loss is 'normal'?
I am keen on reading your replies

I air dry my hair in big twists unless I'm getting braids (then I'll use a blow dyer). The blowout was done on freshly washed hair and slightly damp. I used a comb attachment on the blow dryer. The shrunken puff is done on co-washed hair (Redken) and is slicked backed with IC Fantasia Gel (I dilute it with water because it's thick). I then tie a knee-high and tighten it around my hair to make the puff. I then tie my silk scarf around my edges for 15 minutes and that smoothes out my edges. I (unfortunately) don't get waves when I make a puff hence the straightness of my hair in the front.

UpDaTe: I can't wait until next month because I'll finally be out of my braids!! :bouncegre. I washed and DC'd my braids tonight and I've continued taking my vitamins and water. I decreasing my exercise to 3 times a week.
