Obsessed a bit much?

If you look at the other videos that she has up, almost, if not all of them have to do with "defining curls" and turning her nappy hair into "glossy curls". Why though? How many times you gonna make the same video? Is that all you want to do with your hair? Sit with gel for 50-11 hours and make it something that it's not? I'm so tired of it.

And the worst part is that IMO, her "defined curl" hair isn't that cute to me. When she moves her head, it bobs unnaturally and looks kind of hard. Like branches. I definitely would play in her "rough, dry, kinky" hair before I'd play in her "glossy, defined, gorgeous curls".

But her baby jumping up and down in the background was so cute. I did laugh at that.

You don't have to watch her videos.....................................:look:

Poor youtuber, she's turning into another Ateeya - only this time, she's a natural! Ateeya was supposedly doing too much to get her hair straight/weaved and now this youtuber is supposedly doing too much to get curls :nono: smh. It's always something.

I was cool til I read her post. With all the cussin and attitude all thru it, I can't help but get pissed. Nobody in this thread was looking for an argument. I'm kind of sorry I even posted this thread if I knew people were going to get that worked up about this thread, that they have to respond with such anger :nono:

I don't know she does seem a bit negative about her hair, it makes me wonder if her daughter is mixed for a reason :nono:

Did she show how she applied the gel? Or did she just have videos on a before and after? liked it. If she likes it I love it!

Yes she has a tutorial of how she does it. In one of her earlier vids. When wet her hair doesn't have a defined curl pattern that you can see.

I'll clarify. When I say that I'm tired of IT, I don't mean her videos in particular. I'm not a subscriber to her videos, and I only watch them when they come up here. I saw that all her videos were about defining curls by hitting the handy button on the side, displaying a list of her other videos. All you have to do is read the title to know what they are about. It's not like I sit there, watch them all, roll my eyes and suck my teeth.

What I'm tired of are the issues that black women have with...everything. But specifically when it comes to the texture of our hair. And I'm tired of people pretending like they don't have these issues when it's plain to see that they do. These are not things that I can avoid or block out or "not watch" because I feel like it's everywhere. This lady is only one of many examples of that.
It's suffocating, and I'm tired of it.

Now, let me make it clear that I don't hate this lady. She's never done a thing to me. But I don't understand why or how she can claim to be into her natural 4b (I don't think it's 4b, but whatever) hair, but never wear it as natural natural (lmao robotxcore) hair. Instead, she throws a tub of gel on it and forces it into a semblance of type 3 hair. Alone, that's not a big deal. Plenty of natural ladies shingle. But when you consider way that she talks about her pre and post defined hair, it becomes painfully obvious that she has issues with her hair that she needs to work out. As BMP put it, she needs to make that mental transition. People are gonna start up with it's just hair, blah blah, but honestly...it's not healthy how she thinks. The same way that it's not healthy for someone to obsess over food or boobs that they perceive as too small...it's not healthy to obsess over making your hair look type 3. Hell, it's not healthy to obsess over anything, period.

And before you all tell me that it's not my business, so I shouldn't have an opinion, I actually have every right to form an opinion about this. She's the one who put her videos on youtube, of her own volition, for public consumption. It's the same principle behind posting here on LHCF. When you put yourself out there on the internet, you presumably do it with the understanding that you are opening yourself to opinions, both positive and negative. If a person doesn't realize that, then he or she shouldn't be on youtube.

That so happens to be how the internet works, so I wish people would stop crying foul when someone makes a non-positive comment about a youtuber. Especially when the comment has some sort of basis.
