I'm gonna need "certain" people to immediately find a mirror, stretch a piece of that gorgeous hair down, and realize that duh- BSL hair is very long, and actually, drool-worthy
OP- I hope you've found the list helpful. I too know how frustrating it can be to find inspiration during a long-hair journey when your hair is super-kinky. I hope you take the advice of another poster and consider starting your own site or blog. The 4b newbies who'll come behind you will greatly benefit from your story and future advice.

I believe that there is information to be learned from anybody willing to shareand there are plenty of ladies here and on other portals of the web that will share your texture and their information.

Probably because "good hair" is coveted in the black community and people just think...if it's 'good', then you don't need to do anything else to it to make it better, since it's already 'good'.
So many people talk about having "good hair" and they're relaxed. I don't understand...if it's so good, then...

In the 80's 3b/c wasn't really considered "good hair" because those curls weren't on an "popping" without some sort of moisture aid. My edges might have been a little smooth, or my ponytail twists might have had a little wave at the base, but it was a bushy dry mess outside of that. My momma didn't know how to tame it.
Straight hair was favored, so in her eyes if she just put a mild relaxer in my fro I would have manageable hair.
Back in the days "good hair" was more along the lines of 2-3a because those hair types required less "work". Now tighter curls are more in "vogue" thus the reason this whole hair type hierarchy has come into play.

That was another category: Pretty Hair. Pretty Hair was "nappy" hair that folks liked looking at but hated to deal with. Basically the 3b-4a people. My stylist would say, "Ooh you got some pretty hair." But in the very next breath it was, " A relaxer would make it look real nice."

kisforkinky was started with this kind of frustration in mind. when i started blogging, there were no blogs, forums yes, blogs not really, that really had a tight focus on really kinky hair. i had a kitchen, i knew what a "beady be" was and i don't have what would be culturally described as "good hair."
in most cases my hair looked NOTHING like other popular bloggers' - as beautiful as it may have been - hair. their texture was their texture, so i just started blogging to share another perspective.

hopefully you will enjoy the site. kisforkinky is open and welcoming to any woman of any race who has textured hair - though the niche focus will always be kinky hair because that's why it was started and hence the name.
as bride mentioned, currently there is an on going type 4 series right now - and NO it's not that AMBIGUOUS type 4 hair - it's often curl-less, beautiful, type 4 hair that is being profiled. these kinky women bear all and we discuss not only hair but also the social implications surrounding the idea that our hair is ugly, bad and unprofessional and stomp those ideas into the ground!

Just a note...you'll be missing out if you only look to those with the same curl pattern as you for product recommendations. I have chatted with many ladies whose curl patterns are way looser than mine on other hair boards (and I mean like in the 2 category), but our hair has similar properties, like low porosity or a coarser texture, and I've gotten some staple products. The thing is, you just need to know that your hair is not going to look like theirs when you use the product, but it can still work well. However, when I look for products I'm also not looking for something to "make" my hair curl or make my curls pop, I look for moisture, frizz control, and slip/detangling attributes.

I have to agree with OP on this matter; I thought I was a 3C/4A mix, but as my hair is longer (or bigger I should say) I am straight 4A, with some 4B on the sides and since I've been looking to bloggers and YT'ers with that hair type and what they are doing and more specifically what they are using then my hair has been better...
I understand we can get a wealth of information from eachother, but I feel like I'm learning more from courageous ladies with my type.
On the other hand, I've been following @EllePixie for ahwile and even though I've figured out we are really NOT the same hair type (WAHH!! because her hair is sooo pretty the longer it gets lol) I still respect her opinion and will continue to follow her!
Just my 2 cents...
