When I first checked this lady tutorial on ecostyler and curl formation on 4a/b hair, I was like thats cool. I wasn't feeling how she repeatedly made negative comments about how unmanageable, rough, coarse, mess of hair was turned into lovely spiral curls but I was like whatever.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0NU8gpBK4c

So I came across this one and I was like this chick really hates having 4a/b hair, and should she wake up one day to find that her hair was magically transformed to 3a/b/c hair she would probably act like she won the Powerball.

It looks like all of her vids are focused on making her hair appear to look like 3 type hair.

I believe there was a thread on her not to long ago. Yeah I didn't like some of her comments either. The thing is she seems not to be happy with her hair and her hair is gorgeous IMA!

I think she may want her hair to look like her daughter's hair in the background. :ohwell: I think her hair looks great the way it is. It has a nice little shape to it. I thought going natural was all about wanting to accept your natural body's ways. But I guess that's not the case with everyone.

Also, ( I may be stretching it a bit here) it could be that society sees looser 3b/3c curls to be more acceptable than the tighter 4a/b/c coils because it may be implied with the lighter skin ladies in commercials with 3b/3c coils that they are mixed and are thus more acceptable into the European society than darker, more african-like ladieswith 4a/b/c hair. :perplexed

It's true, it's her hair and she can say whatever the (ahem) she wants to say about her hair.

My professor just lectured on this...at least I was paying attention (and not on lchf)

It's just sad to me that she feels that way about her hair, something that she has to live with every day.

Her hair is beautiful, don't know what the issue is. I was laughing at the daughter in the background trying to be in the video LOL

I saw the comments people were making about her comments about her own hair in the other threads. It's her hair. She should be able to talk about it however she wants to. Bushy, nappy, kinky, curly, whatever.

If she was reaching out for help, I would understand the concern, but she's just sharing her true feelings. *shrugs* There's too much pressure for people to talk a certain way about natural hair.

I understand where she's coming from. I still don't really know my texture since I weaved up after my mini BC but I do notice that people with hair in the 3's and some 4a's tend to get more positive attention...in fact more attention period.

I think when you have tighter coils/curls you have to go above and beyond to show your hair is just as pretty. At least that's what I'm assuming by the way she's talking and from some things I've noticed.

Honestly, I've noticed if your hair is tighter...you've got to have some length or an above average style or popularity for folks to stick around. I personally just accepted my "texture" although I'm still not sure what it is :lachen: I just love it cause it's mines :yep:

THIS IS JUST MY OPINION...:lachen:

i agree 100% with the pink! which is truly sad... but even more motivation to love my fluffy puffy texture even more!

I remember watching one of her vids and she said something and I was like hmm....but at the end of the day it doesn't affect me.

Someone got on my youtube sporting that business saying that I downing parts of my hair that didn't curl like the other and I had to put her hair texture issue having @$$ into place.

If you look at the other videos that she has up, almost, if not all of them have to do with "defining curls" and turning her nappy hair into "glossy curls". Why though? How many times you gonna make the same video? Is that all you want to do with your hair? Sit with gel for 50-11 hours and make it something that it's not? I'm so tired of it.

And the worst part is that IMO, her "defined curl" hair isn't that cute to me. When she moves her head, it bobs unnaturally and looks kind of hard. Like branches. I definitely would play in her "rough, dry, kinky" hair before I'd play in her "glossy, defined, gorgeous curls".

But her baby jumping up and down in the background was so cute. I did laugh at that.

I know right, when I first saw her video way back when the 1st thread came up I was like "hmmmmm" (Like a Marge Simpson hmmmm). But whatever though,

Agreed. It's a shame that she can't realize her god-given, natural natural () hair is so much more beautiful and versatile than when she chokeholds and bodyslams it with gel.

Hey Ladies - let's stay positive and look for the good and try to uplift each other

I first found out about the Ecostyling gel through her vid - I just thank her for sharing her experience In my experience, people with the type of negatvie self images mentioned before (this thread and others) dont tend to post on you tube.

I watched that video and saw her comment and I was like WOW  Its funny how people try to project their hair typing issues onto others.

But back to the topic at hand- it personally doesn't bother me how the youtuber refers to her hair or how much gel she combs through it. I dont see any difference in what she does to what others do- shingling and raking curly custard pudding in their hair. So many people are searching for the perfect defining product or technique. Yes her attitude toward her hair is negative but the truth is lots of people feel this way but just don't speak on it. Look at all the comments she gets from this video. Folks are lovin those curls.

One thing I do question is what hair type is that before she puts the gel in?

i try to stay out of hair typing politics, and i don't know her from adam, so i can't say much about all a dat.

but i will say that she's a pretty lady with gorgeously thick hair and a really nice voice-so calm and soothing. :yep:

I don't really have anything to say about her apparent love of gel, but she has a very magnetic personality. I think she'd be pretty good on QVC or HSN.

are you guys seriously making another thread about this? Why do you all care so gatdam much? OBSESSED MUCH?

Its HER hair to hate. If she hates it.... guess what? Its on HER head and she has the right to do so... who are any of you to make a thread (or 3) condemning her for exercising her right to an opinion on her OWN body??

Also what I find ironic, is that, WHILE chiding her for disliking her hair... then several commenter's then go even further and voice their OWN dislikes about her hair! HILARIOUS!! Are you guys f-ing serious?

"I cant believe she hates her hair!!! What is wrong with her for hating her ugly dry "branch" looking hair?? She should love that ugly stuff!"

You guys really are a trip.

And who are you to clown? Obviously You care a tad "gatdam" much since you took the extra mile to post in this thread. If you don't like what is being discussed, nobody's twisting your arm to pay attention. Just scroll on down to the next topic, there's plenty of other threads at your disposal.

And yes maam, I'm effin serious.

her comments about her hair did bother me, and i commented on it in the last thread about her. but in the end, its whatever. it doesn't change how i feel about my own head. i know its the bomb already. and i don't have to go above and beyond to prove my hair is just as pretty as loose textures because the beauty of my hair is very obvious. ♥

her vid has actually helped me be absolutely sure what my hairtype is. Just this morning I was thinking maybe i am type 4b cos even though I was told i was 4a my curls look nothing like 4as on this board. But my hair looks just like hers so I now I am convinced.

I didn't really watch all of the vid but I didn't really find anything negative in it. Maybe its just me. But I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting to define curls. It looks cute and seeing as naturals can do it, why not??

If I could make my hair look like 3c I would. I love it, but I would not put nothing on my hair to get 3c curls or spend more than 10mins to do it so I spose its catch -22 for me

OMG This is the third thread today I have been in where some Stuff 'don popped off! Whats going on today ya'll! Whats going on really???
