Very nice! Glad to read a relatively positive article about black women for a change.

Thanks for sharing! I'm off to read it now

ETA: I remember when Curly Nikki was on NaturallyCurly.com and she asked us if we would read her blog if she created one. We were like hellz yeah LOL She had quite a following even back then on the forums. I'm so happy for her!

That's BIG. I wish the ladies luck, I'm so glad NYT did this article! Hopefully it'll inspire and spread the word--Natural hair is gaining alot of popularity these days!
:pulpdance:

Wow thats awsome. I remember when curlynikki was just another user on naturallycurly.com years ago when I first started wearing my natural hair. Its amazing to see how far she has come.

I didnt know her site earned her so much money either. Thats great! She has a good humble attitude. I can't wait to see what she does next. :)

Thats awesome!!

Ms. Tapp, Mrs. Walton and Mrs. Love are doing big things!!

Yeah, I remember her little wordpress blog. She's come a long way! Good for her!

Aww and I feel like I know these ladies! Nice job to all of them!

One thing though--I wish they wouldn't focus in so much on how much money they're making...We all know they're getting paid, but when they start showing dollar amounts.. :/

Kudos to the journalist of the piece.....I love how he/she referred to relaxer as "caustic paste" and natural hair as being in an "unadulterated" state.....Prose at its finest.

ETA: I love when people in general are productive, but I get a warm feeling inside when black women do their thing...

What's wrong w/ the article's mention of the money being made in the natural hair industry??

That's great! Much success and wealth to the mentioned ladies and any hair gurus to come!

(....lemme go make a youtube channel lol...)

lmao exactly I'm next....................

Ms. Love has displayed excellent business techiques and how profitable this industry has become.

Kudos to the ladies featured. They've put in the work, they've contributed to community, and they're reaping the rewards.

I think the article did a respectable job of framing the "going natural" movement - although I'm sure some will take issue with the notion that "going natural requires lots of help" and that it's "fraught with confusion, missteps and sometimes pain, as the 2009 Chris Rock documentary “Good Hair” attested."

I enjoyed the article. It's true that You tube videos can make or break companies. Remember afrovedagate?:wink2: They lost a lot of business due to their price hike. I'm surprised they did not mention online websites dedicated to the care of natural hair.

African Export posted this on FB and when I read it my first thought was, lemme post this on the LHCF but then I stopped myself mid-click...I realized that the LHCF ladies were all ready on it and here it is just a few hours later...already done :)

Congrats on the ladies making the article and big ups' for the time's recognizing and producing a very nice article.

That was a very respectful and positive article, I really enjoyed it :drunk: nice to see something like that in the news sometimes.

I had no idea somebody had used Kimma-I mean Ms. Love's videos on their website, without her permission? No bueno. Great article and that author really sounded like they knew what they were talking about.

Ladies, if you want to control our image, make the article one of the most emailed by emailing it to someone even if it is just to another one of your email addresses.

I'm so excited for all the ladies featured in the NYT! The fact that this is getting mainstream attention is a huge deal :)
