Hello everybody :)
I'm not a newbie, just a looooooong time lurker :) I get on lhcf just about everyday but I spend so much time reading threads, I never have time to post, LOL.
A little about me:
I'm a relaxed 4a/b, just starting to stretch my relaxers (going for 12 weeks at a time). I'm just past APL, headed for brastrap I hope by Jan 2008!
My longterm goal is midback which I hope to reach in summer '08. About once a week I think about transitioning. The natural ladies on this site are such an inspiration and the idea of not having to worry about two textures is so appealing. I would love to have thick, healthy, natural hair but I absolutely *cannot* part with my length at this point. Thanks to this board, I can just stalk natural fotkis and live vicariously!
I'm really grateful for this board and all that I have learned! Hopefully, I will be more active in the future.

I am a newbie just joined last week. I have posted a little...but yeah not much. I was on a braid break ( I'm usually in braids esp. now that I can do my own) when I found this site. It has really gave me insight to all the diff types of hair out there and to tune into my own, neglected mane. I don't want super long hair, but I at least wanna get to BSL and then just maintain it. I had long hair when I was little *violin plays* until my ....unskilled mother permed it because she couldn't handle it. (Isn't that everyones story? jk jk ) Since then, I've been learning and doing it myself...not always smartly. I am pretty much here to learn and make hurrr friends.

Hey everyone!!! Long time lurker, but I have started to post a little.I have always LOVED hair, so you can imagine my distress when I began losing my hair about 4 years ago. After the birth of my 3rd child my hair began falling out, this did not happen with my other 2 kids. I've always had thin hair so with all of the post partum shedding I experienced I felt like my hair was invisible so I decided to "rest" my hair. I weaved on and off for the next 3.5 years (mostly on, lol).During this time I went to the Dermatologists and was diagnosed with genetic hair loss

This past May I took the weave out to have a follow up with the dermatologist, what I found was hair that was even more damaged than when I first started with the weave. What began as a 2 week rest period before the next weave finished with some serious contemplation, and I decided that I would take matters into my own hands and start dealing with my own hair.

I'm about 2 and a half months into my healthy hair journey, and now that I know what proper hair care is I am so embarrassed for how I treated my hair my whole life:cry3: . It's a wonder I have a single hair on my head left. At least I finally got my act together though. Thanks so much Bre for this thread!

Hi Ladies,

I'm vandidix. Thanks Bre-Bre for encouraging me to come out of lurkdom. I've been lurking around the forum for about a year now, and just last weekend I was thinking I should introduce myself! You all are so amazing in your knowledge about healthy hair and support of each other.

Here's a little about my hair:
4a/4b,
Currently 2 inches from APL
Goal: mid-back length (eventually someday!)

Challenges:
Lately my hair has been breaking ALOT, and I can't quite figure out why!
Finding a moisturizer that I really like
Being consistent

I'll be setting up a fotki in the coming weeks (it takes me a while to get around to things :ohwell:. But in the meantime, nice to meet ya'll!

I too shall come out of lurkdom...:D
I am trying to post more, but like another member said there are so many threads, such a wealth of information that I tend to spend my time reading, reading and reading.

Nonetheless, a little about me:
4a, relaxed, 2 inches from BSL
I relax only 3 times a year, thanks to you ladies (I must say stretching my relaxers has been the best thing that I've done for my hair)
And I'm thinking about getting braids, (the C&G method) in order to retain more length during my long stretches...hope it goes well. Wish me luck!

I have a fotki but it hasn't been updated for quite a while but I'll get on that ASAP.

Once again...THANKS LHCF:thumbsup:

I'm a new subscriber! Well just paid tjhe fee decide to take advantage of the whole site. My hair is natural right now been like that for 2 years.
I looking to improve the condition of my hair especially my ends
I want to grow my hair as long as possible (or till i get fustrated) My first goal is APL i'm about 3' away:grin:
I wash my hair at least once a week i blow or airdry depending on time.
I'm really trying to learn to style my hair like a pro maybe i'll get that with all the tips from this board:)

Hello ladies, I've been out of hiding and a bonafide LHCF member for a few weeks now. I lurked for about 2 weeks. I absolutely love my hair :yay: since LHCF and have immediately CEASED giving my $$$ to a stylist who occassionally yanks my hair out with the smallest rat tailed comb she can find. That relationship is SO over! I now look forward to forging new relationships with all of you awesome LHCF ladies with gorgeous, healthy hair who give the most wonderful tips.

The loveliness that is my hair since LHCF:

Current length: 1/2 inch to BSL
Goal length: Thick Healthy Mid Back
Hair type: 3B?, relaxed
Hair regimen: Before there really wasn't one. Post you guys, I'm co-washing 2X a week and shampooing once a week, using awesome moisturizers, protein treatments, oils, etc. AND even though I became a product junkie after the 1st day finding this site, I have embraced it and give a big WOOOSSAAHHH to my fellow LHCF PJs.

Hey everybody!!!

Hi Everyone! One of my friends told me about this site last year and I was a lurker for about a week, then I went back to school and totally forgot about it. I decided to finally take control of my hair and so I came back, lurked for another week and became a subscriber since I couldn't take not being able to ask questions . I've NEVER, NEVER had hair that went past the very top of my shoulders in my life :perplexed. I came on this site and the thread that showed the 'night and day' pics completely changed the way that I thought about hair. I'm 4a and thin and I've always been told that my hair could never grow, so I just accepted that. This site has shown me that with proper care and patience (which I'll have to work on), I can have healthy, thick hair.

Hair Info:
Type 4a relaxed, thin, mid neck.
Left side is thinner than right, weak looking ends.

Hair goal
Thick, healthy and strong.
APL, then possibly BSL.

I've already started a regimen of washing and DC 2 times a week. I have to incorporate co-washing as well. I've started taking biotin and flaxseed oil, and I intend to start BTing soon.

I LOVE THIS SITE!!!:D

Hi everyone. My name is Milan and I joined in April. I was on the right track toward longer and healthier hair and then I found this board and now I'm dead on and pressin onward! I love this site and the fact that black women are helping each other get the long healthy hair that we desire natual, texlaxed, relaxed whatever. And there is such a wealth of knowlege here. I feel like I can grow healthy hair no matter if it's chemicals or chemical free!

I would say my hair is like 3C/4A. I have never really seen my hair past my SL so I'm excited that I will b APL with this next relaxer I get in August.

This site is so wonderful, I tell anyone who will listen about it. I even got my cousin, her sn is Diya on here, to join!

Hi! I'm Brandi. I'm been lurking for a while and finally paid my $5 a few months ago. I'm hoping to reach APL by the end of this year and BSL (or as close to mid-back as possible!) by december '08.

Hi!!!!!! I just joined today. I have no idea what my hair type is but I'm a simple Houstonian trying to RRETAIN & GROW so no more relaxers for the next few months for me. Plus, I'm bagging it all up for a looooong time!! :p

Hello everyone!!

Looongtime lurker here....3 years. It all started in 2004 after my shoulder length hair stayed at a stand still for a year, then my nape broke off up to my ears in the back. I read Cathy Howse's book and got to work. Around that time I also found this site. I can honestly say that every single product I have ever used was based on the recommendations of the ladies of this site. I just never had a reason to post because the answers were already there. Here I am 3 years later with beautiful (if I do say so myself), healthy, 2 inches from brastrap, 4 a/b hair. I don't know what else to say except patience and consistency will get you there. THIS SITE IS THE TRUTH!

:orders:Calling all LHCF Veterans....

Someone started a new thread about getting a big sis. I wanted to draw your attention to it coz we newbies wanna get the ball rolling by hooking up with a veteran!

i guess im still a newbie..only been around for a few months..but lurked around for about a year now. I am doing the bis sis challenge (shout outs to my big sis, SistaSlick)... I need to build up my friend base, so feel free to add me ... I am still learning ALOT, and will be documenting my progress in fotki. (I just added new photos, so comment if you like) Im still confused about my hair type.. I will wait for at least 3 inches of new growth to figure it out.

I must confess...I am a lurker. I found this forum about 2 years ago and have gone through it periodically. I am now serious about getting my hair in the best shape possible...I must also confess that I am REALLY a newbie..I didn't even know that oil is a sealant and doesn't moisturize...geez.
I can now say that I am ready and willing to participate and come out of lurkdom cause I need serious help.
is there one particular thread that explains things like moisture, protein...etc for complete newbies...or is the search the best option. ***never mind..found one***

thanks ladies, it is so nice to have so many woman in one place actually supporting one another...

HI my name is Priscilla I found this site in 2005 and joined I then started transitioning from my relaxed hair to my natural hair and also l decided to stop wearing weave which I had previously rocked for 3years. Then I lost contact with the website due to my busy schedule. But lately I have found my way back to you and joined the LHCF family. As stated above I am currently natural I think I am a 2 or 3 I have tight curly hair when wet and when blow dried correctly straight hair without the bush. You can see my hair on my Fotki website http://public.fotki.com/villacole/ , I currently am APL but I am striving for BL and some. I have tried several of you ladies suggestion as far as hair care and regime. I am right now using MTG mixed with hair oils and vanilla oil (for the smell). I also am using MN with the sulfur grease mixed in it and also a leave in conditioner. I MTG at night and MN in the AM this has been for about a week and I think I am seeing results but I have been wearing it curly so won't really tell till I blow dry.Well anyways I am looking forward to being apart of this family and developing the skills to have beautiful healthy long hair.:rolleyes:

I've been a lurker for the past two years. Life took hold of me. It's good to see a whole new set of faces, and see the people that were here for a while! :)
