** NEWBIES AND LURKERS ** Come out and say hi

:sekret: Hi Ladies,

Ive been lurking(and will continue to stalk) for a while now.

I decided to go natural and cut off a lot of hair. I was about 2-3 inches from BSL, now its a short bob. From lurking and learning, Ive decided to texlax my hair. Its 4b, soft in the front, kitchen is a mess. I truly love looking thru the fotkis of the women who have struggled before me.

Thank you for this board.....

Wow...Bre Bre...you convinced a few lurkers to come out.Good job:clap: Welcome y'all, I kinda came out of lurkdom myself about 2 months ago...Its great isnt it? Nice to meet you all:)

 Hello everyone! I just joined last month and I'm so glad I did. I love the support here and being able to share tips about haircare. Most of all, I've learned so much from reading other people's regimens and product reviews, and I am trying to ease into my own, consistent regimen myself. I look forward to being able to learn and share for many years to come! Happy growing everyone :)

ETA: My hair is currently about an inch from APL and although I really never tried to categorize it, I guess it would be 3c/4a. I am attempting (through good haircare and tips from the ladies on this site) to grow my hair to BSL and hopefully MBL over the next few years. I've been an avid trimmer in the past (a habit I'm trying to kick for a while), so my hair has been static at the same length forever. My biggest problem is breakage, and I'm really trying hard to get the moisture/protein balance down but I'm struggling. I've recently added washing 2x/week, rollersetting and conditioner washing to my regimen and I have noticed a difference in the overall health of my hair. I've virtually knocked out direct heat and since it's summer I airdry most of the time. I've still got a LOT to learn, but I'm hoping it's only going to get better from here!

Hi everyone, another newbie reporting in.

I've lurked forever, but just joined this year. :look:

My biggest goal was to actually get some growth. In the past I've only been able to maintain an ear length bob. Since stalking the boards, I'm actually at the longest length I've ever been during adulthood.

I'm now at SL and striving for APL. With all the wonderful advice that you wonderful ladies of LHCF provide, I know it's possible.

Many thanks to all of you for your great input and helping a sista finally cover her neck!!!

This is such a warm, sweet thread...you did good Bre-bre!

Welcome to all the newbies who have come out of lurkdom....waiting for the others....come out, come out wherever you are!!! LOL!

Blessings!

Hey Ladies!!!
I’m Shay and I just joined earlier this month after months of seeing more hair in the bathroom sink instead of on my head where it belongs. A little about my hair:
· 4b(?), relaxed, shoulder length
· Over-processed due to self-relaxing every 4-6 weeks
· A heat addict, blow-dry and flat iron at least 2x a week BUT
· Only washed 2x a month (yuck, I know now…)
· Used gel and wore a ponytail w/a rubberband that snatched my hair out when not wearing it down.
· Considered oil sheen “moisturizer”

What I hope to achieve:
· A successful regimen
· Healthy, APL or better
· Knowledge of some protective styles

I can’t wait to learn from you knowledgeable ladies and on my way to a head full of healthy hair.

Hi everyone, my name is Tiffany. I'm a long time lurker, first time poster :). A bit about my hair:

I'm currently transitioning from relaxed to natural (5 months so far). This is my second attempt at transitioning and honestly, I"ll probably be at wits end if I hadn't stumbled across this board. There is so much inspiration flowing from here I get excited about hair.

I hope to find a routine and products that works for me and to eventually do the BC.

Hi and Welcome! There is a lot of inspiration (usually) here on the hair board and you will find a ton of info :)

HEY LADIES!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so glad to be here tonight  I am though. I have been natural since 2001 but I used to wear a "Low-boy" as I calles it, for about 6 years. After having my daughter, as well as, have been ignoring the erge to play in hair and try new styles, I decided to grow out my hair. In september it will be 2 years that I have been growing out my hair, and boy am I having fun. I must admit I am a true PJ; I guess I am trying to make up for all the years when I used a dab of grease and a good brush (YES! I had the 360 waves going, dudes were so mad at that!). So, alas I have some hair and have been playing with it for almost 2 years. I have red hair right now (due to a rinse) and without the rinse I have like orangish color hair, but colored none the less. I am here to learn, ask and answer (if I can). Peace

Hi Camonil and welcome :) Now, splain yo'self. What exactly is a "lowboy"????

:( I had typed a whole post and then it vanished. SO with that being said I am a new subscriber (formerly a lurker). I have been natural since 2001 rockin a low-boy and after having my daughter in 2005 decided I wanted to grow my hair out. In september it will be 2 years of growing out. I don't know what hair type I am but it's coarse and coily. It's color treated (Avatar was too big to post). I hope I will be able to learn, ask and answer during my time on this forum.;)

Greetings, ladies! I joined a few months ago. I'm in my forties, married, been natural for years. I don't know the 4a's and b's system - my hair has a very thick, wooly texture.

I lurk because I'm not sure I have much to add to the converstaion. As part of a spiritual journey, I did a big chop in January 2005 after growing dreadlocks for several years. Mostly I keep my hair covered (hats and headwraps) for day to day activities, so I don't really do much in terms of hair styling. Sometimes I'll wear a twistout or braidout style for a special occasion. I'll post a photo of my hair out if I can dig one up from somewhere!

Why am I here, then? I am just very interested in hair. Black hair is not widely understood, sometimes even by professionals, seems like. The support and information exchange of this community is very uplifting.

DarkVictory
