New Growth Update! (Pic Inside)

I will be marking 8 months post-relaxer tomorrow, but will be doing a roller set tonight so won't have a chance to measure tomorrow on the official mark. So, I checked today after my co-wash.

I am measuring in at 3"! I know that I am ideally supposed to be at 4" since it is almost 8 months, but I also realize that I didn't really have any new growth at all until October (2 months post-relaxer - I have no idea why my hair wasn't growing during those 2 months), which was about 6 months ago. So I think I am right on track and am getting 1/2" per month. Has anyone else experienced this - where it took a while to get things going but then all of a sudden your hair began growing right on track?
Since I am transitioning 17 months, I am hoping to end up with about 8 inches of new growth before I chop, so at this rate, I gotta pull an extra .5" out of thin air before January since I'm an inch behind!

Good question! Yes, during the transition from fall to winter, it was about 6 weeks before I saw any new growth at all. Same for the winter. Now that spring has sprung, I saw new growth after 3+ weeks. I learned the hard way that "a watched pot never boils."

Yeah, that is true. I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced it because I thought maybe I was weird or something. I'm not complaining at all... You couldn't have told me when I wasn't taking care of my hair that it would grow 3" at all (I thought my hair would never get longer than SL without breaking off since it ALWAYS did) so I am definitely thankful and enjoying the journey. I am hoping I can keep the .5" up for the rest of the transition, and I heard something about people possibly getting a summer spurt, so I am all up for that!
We'll see how it goes. So far, so good.

I definitely get 1/2 inch growth in the back of my head every month. The front is a different story. I have been transitioning for 11 months and my new growth in the back is almost 6 inches stretched. My hair on top is right at 4-4.5 inches stretched. I'm hoping it won't make too much difference since my hair in back has tighter coils than in front.

Yay! Another abnormal grower!
All of my hair is the same length all over, but the row of hair right above my ears is like 5" and the crown of my head is only about 2.5"... I don't understand... . Lol....
