Neat information found on the net

Mine floated but I only tested 1 strand. I'll try another just to be on the safer side.:D

There's a really simple test in the article for testing if your hair is damaged or not. I'm going to give it a try tonight.

Enjoy! :)
Cool article I will try this later. OT I was in Memphis about 2 weeks ago and stayed with a fellow board member. Q

ok first mine floated
but i thought to myself maybe i need to push it and see if it floats back up
but it sank!!
so what does THAT mean??

Mine sunk, I have only started taking proper care of my hair for a couple of months. I am off to deep condition now.

That was a very good article!! I love the simple strand test. Great info on how to handle the hair gently. Thanks for helping to educate us, I am so impressed with and grateful for this board.!!

I tried the strand test part of the hair was under the water but the rest of it was floating keeping it from sinking. lol

Thanks for posting that article.
Seems like a lot of things that most people here are doing so I guess we're on the right track.:yep:

My goodness, Dillard. Where did you find this - :lachen::lachen: I'm glad the information is still useful! I still do the test on and off. Which reminds me, I'm due. Hope they still float.

I did my strands test not too long ago. I used the hairs I got from the comb after combing my hair and put them in the sink while I did everything else. I let them sit for about 3 minutes. They floated, so I guess I'm good to go. However, I will say this. After I tried to gather them together with my finger, they did start to sink. Could that have been a result of me stirring them around in the water?

I know my hair is a bit damaged and mine floats, but then I thought maybe it's floating because it has products on it like, IC gel and Baby Buttercreme, from earlier this week. What do you think? Is this test only good when there's no product on the hair...not even conditioner?

Good point, I hadn't thought of that. Does anyone have an answer?

i know... it's mad old right  I was actually doing a search for a thread that had "information" in the title and this is one that came up. and i'm glad it did, i tried 3 strands, they all floated, my hair was product free by the way, i had just shampoo'd.
