If you transitioned, what month did you do your Big Chop?

What were the hardest months to get through?

after 15 looooooong months . i have 20 months of "new growth" on my head

eta - the hardest months were between 6-10 were the most difficult for me. Taking my time and having patience were the key.

I did my BC 2 days ago . I transitioned for 13 months. I was planning to BC next summer but couldn't handle the two textures and ended up doing the BC.

3 months. I wanted to start in the summer to take advantage of the warmth to get a summer growth spurt.

Still transitioning at 6 1/2 months..hasn't been that bad. I plan to go as long as I can and then chop, so no less than 12 months.

When I was transitioning I didn't know about LHCF. I found Fotki right before I BCed but didn't really get into it until right after the BC. Anyhoo, I transitioned for 15 months & finally did the BC b/c I was tired of the shedding & appearance of my relaxed hair. Months 12-15 were the roughest.

The first time I went 13 months, the last time was after 9... this time who knows? :)

The hardest month for me has never been a particular time, but when that feeling of "I'm TIRED of this!" sets in it's over! That's how I BC'ed both times.

I didn't have a transition so I guess I "BCed" 6 months after my last relaxer. I had just cut my hair short anyway (Halle Berry) so mine's was more like a SC (small chop)

had my last relaxer july 12, 2005
and chopped november 2, 2005

so..about 4 months.

i dont remember which months were the most difficult, though

I chopped my hair after almost 8 months.

Did I did a second big chop a week later.

The hardest month of my transition was the month right before I chopped it off (month 7)... my relaxed hair was breaking off from my natural new growth. So I just chopped it all off.

About 8 months.

the hardest was when I finally decided to chop. I had two really different textures, and my hair just looked bad all the time, and the ends were super dry. I couldn't deal with it anymore.

looking at my ticker its been 14 months exactly! I did it TODAY this time last year! lol damn i'm dumb!:spinning: lol so that would be the end of October! Not a bad time to do it.....I think, IMO, its better than Summer because you can protective style all through this season and come Springtime have some inches that you can start playing with....I BC'ED with approximately 4-8 inches of hair on my head (can recall the exact measurements) and I felt damn near bald but during this time I played with scarves, thick moisturizers, braids, fat twists, and everything....I transitioned for a full year+ so it was nice to finally chop and spend the fall and winter free- I thought of it as a time of rebirth so what an excellent way!

The hardest months to get through for me were spring and summer....ironic eh? I think its because during those months you want long, flowing, lush hair to throw around and be all sexy....also there is incredible amounts of frizz that will have you looking like a poofball.... I much prefer colder months and I strongly recommend!:yep:

PS: Also, the hardest months of the transition were once I got to about 5'' new growth and the line of demarcation was strongly visible.....it looked like a rats nest... I wouldn't push past a year because you risk doing damage to not only the straight hair but the natural hair especially.....so I would BC at least by the one year mark of a transition

I transitioned for 7 months...I did the BC at end of July this year. I just got fed up of the transitioning phase and i wanted to see my own hair.

I attempted to transition for I think about 2 months.

My hair was so thick and my new growth just unmanagebable between the two.

I just started lurking on this site but I couldn't do it. I BC'd on 8/6/06

My friends who have gone natural both said month 6 is the hardest. I wonder why?

I guess that answers my question why that seems to be around the hardest time. Maybe I'll have to get a weave or braids during that time.

I transitioned 14 months. The last month was the hardest because I was worried about breakage.
