I don't know if my story applies to this thread. I think it still does. I say that because I plan on still getting relaxers, but getting them the "right" way. :yep: I didn't BC to become natural, even though I have thought about it... I really just wanted to get rid of all of my overprocessed hair and start over on my hair journey.

I haven't really regretted cutting my hair. Sometimes I do miss the length and being able to wear a ponytail or do a twistout (that was my favorite style!). Overall I like my short hair. I just didn't know it would be so much work having short hair! :ohwell: It's hard for me to get my hair to "look right." That's the hardest part for me. But I'm just appreciating having short hair right now, because I don't plan on ever having my hair this short again. I've gotten a lot of inspiration for my hairstyles from Rihanna and Chrisette Michelle. They both really know how to rock a short hair cut! :yep:

Absolutely, welcome aboard the BC Express. :lachen: Relaxed or Natural, if you did a BC, this is the spot to be in and share. My cut is about your legnth as well. But I actually want to stop relaxing. :wallbash: I love weaves...I may as well let my hair grow wild, chemical free, under my weaves.

Thanks, Smiley! I thought about going natural. As of right now I guess it's still an option since I haven't gotten a perm yet. I just don't think I'm going to follow through with it. My hair is ROUGH! I'm also tryin to exercise more, so maybe now isn't the right time for me to go natural...

I hear you...I'm gonna take advantage of the mega-short cut and stop perming. We'll see how it goes. Keep us posted with your progress!

i did try to pull it back for a couple weeks. then one day i just let it free and i've been doing wash n' go's daily since then! even rocking my TWA to work! my only regret was trying to hide it at first.

I am rocking it . The Big Chop was a freeing experience for me. I transitioned for 5 months and couldn’t wait any longer. I don't regret it mater of fact I love my seeing and feeling my curls! I think I look younger with shorter hair and have received compliments.

I am embracing and loving what God gave me.

Silly me to think I was going through this BC thing on my own! It's been a week now, my hair was nearly BSL but the relaxer made my hair too thin and raggedy. All the people in the barbershop were up in arms over me cutting all that hair....I picked up a fistfull off the floor when he was done and said 'see I'm keeping some of it' and walked out with my head high. I'm still getting used to it, but I don't miss wash day one d*mn bit!!

i rocked the mess out of it! i loved my hair when i bc'd it. all i had to do was brush and go. i didn't hide my hair either. i thought about, but not because i was uncomfortable, but because i wanted just wanted to try a certain wig, but i ended up never wearing it and i threw it in the trash.

no regrets...I rocked it! I found a new confidence and enjoyed myself for the first 4 months but now I'm just bored out of my wits...tired of this blasted twa and don't really like how anything else looks on me with this short hair. I do twist-outs and they are "eh"-ok. nothing to write home about or even post a pic about...I went against Dh's wishes and got kinky twists and to my horror, these aren't even lasting. my hair is so short and curly, its looking old. like seriously, like I've had them in for 2-3 months rather than 3 weeks :(. i'm gonna try and clean up the edges myself (never done this before) but I seriously need a break. I feel foolish putting hair accessories in my hair is my hair doesn't 'cover' them, i.e. headbands with flowers, flowers, pins...which of course I find uber cute, just not on my ridiculously short hair.
hmmm this has turned into a much needed vent. I'm making do with the kinky twists now and can hopefully keep them for at least another 3 weeks (total 6 weeks) and I think I'll have a renewed energy for my hair. I hate that I keep looking forward to the end of summer when I should have enough hair to wear my hair in twists and not have scalp showing (my personal issue)...I've been dying to try a fro-hawk and hopefully within the month I can give it a good try!
I've tried...roller sets (i made the mistake and combed them and it looked a hot mess!), cornrows all over (it was ok..but it got fuzzy/fagged really quickly because of how short my hair was), cornrows in the front (that was cute), wash'n'go's (those are usually ok) and finally like I mentioned the twist-outs!

Well I just bc'ed a few days ago. When I went to work, my manager was like..."oh...your hair is short today." I began to explain how I had to cut it off because it was so damaged and what not. Then she proceeded to say "well is it going to grow back fast?" My response was I hope so. Then the lady fixed her mouth to say....." well you can always wear extensions":ohwell: So to make a long story short, she dosen't like it, but who cares. I will continue to rock my 1" twa.

LOL at the bold, who says that?:lachen:..:nono:
Forget that lady and rock your puff. I must admit i worried what ppl would say at first i even heard this white girl whisper "You have really short hair" i wanted to punch her in the face for that STUPID,STUPID,STUPID comment, but i took the high road.

I BC'd after transitioning for 8 months and honestly, I was kind of pressured by friends into cutting so soon. The original plan was to transition for a year. But I have absolutely no regrets. I was shocked and afraid to even look in the mirror at first, but then I grew to love it. I chopped at a salon so they styled it in coils. I did buy a wig before I BC'd just in case I didn't like my hair but I didn't have to use it. Since then I have been wearing wash and gos and cornrows occasionally.

I rocked the hell out of my curly fro.
I waited 18 months for it and I was gonna enjoy it!
I lived on wash and goes for ages and I still do :)

wow I just realised this will be my 3rd month as a natural the time has flown!! I mix and match between two styles a twist out- my fav! Then just a curly pony with a twist out fringe, I have a damaged patch I'm trying to disguise so wash and gos are no gos for me :(

I'm still loving my hair though - I'll love it more when its longer :)

I transitioned for two and half months, cut the relaxer off and wore the twa with head wraps, silk scarfs, headbands and hats until it was long enough to twist or braid. So in short I rocked it... it was fun and freeing for me...love it!!

I'm prob not the best person to answer, as I transitioned for 21 months before my BC. But once I decided to cut the bit of relaxed ends off, I pretty much wore a bun. I am jusssst now at the point of wearing my natural hair out, but I do love twistouts, etc.

This was pretty much my experience, also. Because I bc after almost 2 years of transitioning, it was not too drastic. I had enough hair to wear my usual buns and twistouts.

Bump! Thank you for this thread because I really needed to read this.

I just bc'd on sunday after transitioning for almost 8 months (7 months and three weeks to be exact..lol) and really, really I love it! I'm surprised at how good short hair looks on me..lol!

The sad thing is that I wore a wig to work today since I was sooo paranoid what people would think:sad::perplexed. My friend was seriously getting my case about wearing the wig (she is pro natural and very much ANTI fake hair and chemicals). She thinks I should rock the short hair and and believes it will look good on me. She asked me why did I bother cutting off my relaxed hair if I was just going to cover it up with fake hair? She really ticked me off when she asked me that(I didn't let her know it though) but now that I think about she has a point.

I was thinking of getting braids this weekend but now I'm not. I'm doing to try and go 1-2 months w/o the fake hair. Short hair is very convenient and I've been fotki stalking and seeing some super cute styles that I am going to rock.

I'm not natural or transitioning, but I say rock your natural hair. Don't worry about negative opinions.

Great thread!

I did a sew in last week and I will be going into braids for the summer. I have got to keep my hands out of my hair. It really started to become a problem.

I'm going to miss it but it's best. :ohwell:

I BC'd just recently on the 13th. I had been transitioning for a while and since I'm prego I'm getting a lot of growth. I have been thinking about bc'in for a while but never had the guts. Finally I just woke up and started cutting the disgusting texlexed/relaxer part off. I've been rocking a wash and go. Bought KCCC and haven't looked back. I don't regret it at all. When I was cutting all I could do was laugh. Seriously it did feel liberating. I'm also pissed that it took me so long. My SO has no complaints. Infact the only complaint or comment I've had that's against it was from mother inlaw. She said she liked my hair before which was thick, Close to BSL, and of course texlexed. I told her not to worry my hair is much more healther now and I will eventually get back to that length, but all natural.

All you ladies that did the BC recently, don't forget to join the challenge for earlegnth or shorter ladies. I'll find the link and post it if interested. It's kind of like a support thread/challenge for us!

Great thread!

Thank you! I ended up rocking a twistout yesterday and I got soooo many compliments! Seriously, I was overwhelmed by so much positive feedback. Of all the styles I've worn to work(and I've worn ALOT), this one got the best feedback. So now, I'm going to really enjoy my hair and experiment. This look is the perfect summer look.

I do two strand twist or coils. Both styling options are available on missjessie's website. Once my hair gets longer; I will try rollersetting with spiral curlers. I may get cornrows later in the summer.

I BC'd about 3 weeks ago after transitioning for 7 months. i felt better than i thought i would and I don't regret it at all. I've only tried variations of the wash n go but i just braided my hair tonight so i'll see how it turns out in the morn.
