I have carpal tunnel, so it takes me forever! :ohwell: J/K. It takes about 1.5 hours because my flat twist skills are still at beginner level.

At least you've got flat twists skills; I don't. What I was talking about are two-strand twists. I think it'd take me a day to do a flat twist coz I have no clue how to do them. Thankfully, there's a tutorial somewhere I need to study to get on this ball one of these days though.

Ok, so now this thread made ME feel bad! OP, even my FIRST set of twists with my TWA took me like 3 hours,... Its only gotten longer (not shorter) since!

It takes me like 6+ hours... Maybe I am doing something wrong? I don't feel like my twists are very long. I don't part them either, just grab and twist.

I guess I am certainly NOT the norm, :lachen:

Me neither I guess. The set I just completed took me about 6.5 hrs. I'm fond of microtwists

I don't have flat twist skills either, you should see my sad attempts. If you try and keep at it you can get better. At least that what I tell myself.:yep:

Your twists in your pictures are amazing! That would be a 24 hour project for me:wallbash:

I've been doing this for 6 years now and it takes me between 1.5-2 hours. I'm not getting any faster, and the length of my hair doesn't seem to make much difference either. I think the density of your hair would be a huge determining factor.

It takes me about 45 minutes to an hour for medium sized twists. For mini-small twists, it takes me about 3-4 hours.

It depends on size. For my micro twists it took 12+ hours. I'm so never doing those again. But that was hundreds and hundreds of twists.

For medium sized about the length of a movie.

:lachen:Girl that is me too! I just can't even do it once a week. More like every two weeks. And the front of my hair is so stubborn I have my mom braid it and I do the rest. Still it takes me over 2 hours! :wallbash:

Nonie that made me feel a lot better, I'm determined to keep my hair in twists under a wig for most of the year but spending so long twisting is killing me...literally! My arms hurt so bad once I was done I started to wonder if I was the only one with the same problem. Juliagizzle I put my hair in the 2 strand twists. Since I wear them under wigs they aren't perfect, I just make sure they are tight enough to not unravel and last as long as possible.

You should try "CurlyChronicles" Flat Twist wrap...

see her video here.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amyzT9UsT_w

then I made my own to try it out... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vvPAND0MOU
it took me 30 mins... I didn't know what I was doing... with more practice this
could be done in 10 minutes for sure.

I love CurlyChronicles videos because we have very similar textures. I love those flat twist wraps, thank you for sharing. I have a TWA now so as soon as it grows that will be how I will twist my hair, she made it look so easy and you did a great job with yours. Your video is so cute, I can't wait to shake my curls like that:grin:

I like mine small, and that usually takes me about 3.5 hours if I don't stop. The twists in my avi are bigger than my usual, but they only took me 2 hours, so bigger may be better for me.:lachen:

Im so glad to be reading this post because it takes me up to 3 hours to do mine and i don't even think they look that special.
Im just glad i don't have to do that everyday - and luckily they are good for up to two weeks.

I hope to get a lot faster one day - man i would love to do them within an hour.

I can not do them for the life of me. I am on Youtube now trying to learn. Anytips? Perhaps I should try them on partially blwo dried hair...I just try to stay away from the blow dryer. Any suggestions?

My twists take me about 2 1/2 - 3 hours with bathroom breaks.

No parting here either. It's a waste of time especially when you can't see the part. However, I make sure that my hair is detangled well before venturing on to such a project.

My twists usually last about a week before I take them out for a week of a twist out. I'm doing something different this time for 2009. I have my hair twisted and tucked in protecting my hair from the elements of this 20 degree weather.

I'm scared to wash and deep condition my twists though. Does anyone successfully do this without getting a tangled and matted mess. I read about putting a stocking cap on to wash, but what about conditioning?

It usually takes me around 3-4 hours to do small/microtwists. IMO, this is not bad since I leave them in for 3-4 weeks.

Me neither I guess. The set I just completed took me about 6.5 hrs. I'm fond of microtwists

I thought I was all alone! It seems no matter the length of my hair, from TWA to about shoulder length where I am today, at ALWAYS takes me about 6 hrs!

I'm about to start doing them again today, and this time I'm trying to flat-twist the front. Wish me luck, folks! I need it

Since I started this thread I have been able to cut down the time I spend by starting from the bottom and working my way to the top of my head when I twist. I'm not sure why this made so much of a difference but it takes me a lot less time this way. I went from taking almost 3 hours to twist my TWA to about an hour and a half. My twists look a lot better also.

if im doing big twists... 30-60mins
if im doing medium twists... 1-2hrs
if im doing small twists (which I seldom do).... 2-4hrs

I'm transitioning I perfer twists outs over braid outs...so the more I do it the more I learn new things..

most recently I'm liking the way the hair looks with more twists than fewer...

also, prior, I only twisted the relaxed ends because I didnt want parts to show...but i learned that the tighter the twists the less puffy the overall hair looks...

but the answer is it is taking me longer now than before because I am doing more twists....

4 hours on freshly washed head of hair, small and neat twists. My hair length varies between 8 to 13 inches. Now I just wash and condition hair in twists. Let dry then take out individually and retwists with a thick leave in. If I want really nice and well parted twists I take myself to the shop with washed and blown out hair. jeve

natural hair equals TIME TIME TIME...
it takes time and dedication...
I've been known to wear the same twists for 3 weeks and beyond though... theres nothing wrong with that...
I haven't washed in twists, before it made me tangled... I may try again though

Depends on how small they're done. Smaller than pencil, about 3 hours +, a little larger than pencil size/ pencil size - about 2 hours

Ugh - thought I'd update instead of just editing my old response.

This last batch I did (in siggie) are smaller than usual and they took about 8 hours total to finish.

Best believe I'm gonna try to keep these in for a while.

It used to take me an hour to twist...

before I BC'd.

Now it takes 2 hours.

It's just because I have to do more of them... and I am not the best twister or braider. I'm going to try to do my hair at least 3 or 4 times a week though.

I always do medium twists/braids.

I am just extremely slow and distracted while I twist; I'm either on here, watching TV, or all of a sudden I need to eat. It can take from 2 to 4.5 hours if they are smaller. I started twisting a year ago after my BC. I am not very good at twisting but I'm progressively getting better.
