Which do you prefer when blow drying your hair? Paddle Brush or comb attatchment? And do you feel one method is more damaging than the other?

TIA!

i use the comb attachment because its faster, but i get better results with the tension method/round brush...they're both equally damaging IMO...

I have never used a paddle brush. I've only used the comb attachment on my hair twice & didn't like how much hair seemed to be left in the comb. Since I am not aiming for straight hair the tension method is my preference.

It all depends on what look I'm going for.
When I straighten, I prefer to use the paddle brush and the round brush for my roots, resulting in straighter hair.
When I'm just going to do a blowout or I'm in a rush, I use the comb attachment. I think it's much rougher on the hair.

used comb attachments on relaxed hair back in the day.... never again

great way for me to thin my hair out tho' :-/ (too rough for my hair )

i vote wide vented brush all day

I use my paddle brush because my hair broke all the teeth off my comb attachment. Can't say I would recommend it though..

I use a comb attachment with wide teeth (not as wide as a wide tooth comb though).
I used a denman before, only because I was away from home and forgot my comb attachment.
I got good results from the brush, but I would rather use my comb attachment.

On occasion a paddle brush. I actually tension blow dry my more often than not-almost no hair loss even though it takes longer.

I use a comb attachment because I feel it's easier for me to work with one tool as opposed to two. I realize that I was using sections that were too large to blow dry my hair. I used to just blow dry my hair in the same six sections that I used to wash it. I have to split the sections up for better results.

Also, the comb attachment is not as harsh (on me anyway) if my hair is thoroughly detangled before I begin to use it.

I use a combination of the comb attachment and the tension method. I agree with darlingdiva...my comb attachment is used after my hair has been detangled so I'm starting on tangled hair.

I use the tension method only, I have used the comb attachment in the past but the breakage was ridiculous.:afro:

I haven't did a blow dry in a while but if I were to do it now, definitely the tension method. I do not want my hair to get stick straight. If I was going for the really straight look I would use the comb.

On the rare occasions that I blow dry my hair, I do really small sections and sometimes comb through or sometimes finger comb but I'm not all tht comfortable using a brush on my wet hair.

Thanks for the responses so far!

Personally, I prefer to use a paddle brush. I've finally mastered how to use a brush and a blow dryer together and I much happier with my results. The paddle brush that I have just glides through my hair; much easier than my comb attatchment.

I don't use either. I prefer to use a median tooth comb while combing downwards with the blow-drier on warm heat. I add the concentrator to the blow drier as well.

If I want really straight ends, I will use a boar bristle brush after I use the comb on my ends on warm heat.

If my Babyliss came with a comb attachment I'd use one. My Dominican salon uses an attachment and my hair is pin straight. I use the tension method to get my hair the straightest. Brushes give me too much volume so I'll only use one if I'm blow-drying for braids or an "out" style.

I no longer use a blow dryer (I only flat iron now). I used the paddle brush just because I sucked at using the round brush on my own head.

Ive never tried a paddle brush, only use the comb attachment. I never understood why it is assumed it is damaging, never noticed damage. Always detangle each section with shower comb followed by denman and the comb attachment glides through.
I might try it in the future, but hey, if it aint broke dont fix it.

I use both a Denman and a comb attachment. Most recently I used a Denman and when I did my sister's hair I used a roundbrush and and Denman. On shorter hair like my mothers a comb attachment is best.

I blow dried and flat ironed yesterday. I attempted both the paddle brush and the comb attachment. I had a much easier time with the comb attachment.

I'm still transitioning but I'm almost 18 months post. I use the tension method. For me it's less damaging because I'm not constantly combing through my hair.

Denman brush for straight hair. If I am just trying to stretch it out I pull it taunt using just my hands on cool (I guess this would be considered the tension method).

I use the comb attachment as I would a regular comb. Grab a bunch of hair, begin at the ends so they loosen up then pull through. I don't know why it's presumed damaging either - unless you do it too often.

I'm frustrated that most blow dryers don't come with comb attachments which limits options if you choose to use them. I know you can buy them separately but most of the time those ones don't fit properly and slide off.
