I just got to the length where I can wear a nice puff. I was picking my hair and thinking, man this doesn't sound good at all. I don't loose any hair when picking, but I want to be able to retain everything that I do get. I was just wondering your thoughts on this. Thanks in advance.

Miss Trina, this is a good question. :yep:

I always put oil on my ends before I pick my hair out. This helps my hair and scalp out so much during this dry Cali weather.

HTH

I found out that combing or picking natural hair when its dry is seriously detrimental to its health. When I would pick my fro I could hear the hair snapping and it was so hard to do (comb). I usually just finger comb my afros and fluff it that way. Less frustrating.HTH!

Picking or combing natural hair dry is just asking for trouble IMHO. My stylist would spritz my hair w/ water before picking. HTH....

Thanks ladies! I was experimenting on my hair today and after I did a couple of sections with the maxiglide, I decided to wash my hair. I picked my hair out while the conditioner was still in then rinsed. I like it much better this way because there is less guilt than when its dry.:)

ITA! If I even go that route(which isn't often at all) I will steer toward finger combing. Unless I am in the shower detangling w/ a ton of conditioner in my head and my k cutter ready to go :)

If you are ripping through the strands (can hear them snapping), it is damaging to the hair.

I also agree that picking your hair out is damaging when your hair is dry. I prefer to finger fluff.
