Pandora- maybe it's because you look different to them and they're trying to place you? I don't think women wear more natural hair in the Caribbean but again we can't generalize all the islands.

I've lived a couple different places & grew up on St. Croix- there were more relaxed heads in my classes than there were naturals.

Hey Crucian!!!

For me when I lived in the Bronx I was automatically assumed to be Dominican until I spoke, then I was the "white speaking black girl". So I guess yes I get mistaken for Caribbean but for the wrong island. I am Jamaican, lol.

I get asked if I'm from "the islands" and I say yes, the British Isles because I was born in the UK. Since I'm in France, people ask if I'm from Gwada, Martinique, Réunion, Mauritius (which I can understand) or India (WTH?).

I think this is really cute. I have caribbean heritage so it wouldn't count but I'm always asked where I am from...when I say London they look at me confused...lol.

I've been asked if I have everything under the sun in me apart from white

Yep. Ppl always think I'm not American and the first region they think of is the Caribbean. Funny thing about it is I'm married to someone from the islands and most of my friends are and when you actually visit different islands, the majority of women there aren't natural, go figure.

Nope, I never get that at all and I live in DC. In fact, no one ever says anything about my hair one way or the other.
