That's your before?
I like it. I don't know why he was messing with you.

I trim my nape until my hair is long enough to cover it, then it grows out without difficulty.

I rather like the "W" shape it forms, so while it is visible I trim it to keep it looking even.

Once you can no loner see it, do to my hair's length, I let it grow out as it wishes.

As for my hair line, it's naturally silky-ish and lays down in a nice arch so I don't bother it. I leave it alone and we get along fine.

I've been thinking about it because I feel like they're on my neck, thought they probably aren't. but I bun my hair almost daily & I have a lot of side nape hair... I've only done it once & it looked too... "edged up." Not sure what to do because I feel like its distracting when my hair is up.

I don't think it's as distracting as you think:

Since you'd done it before, I imagine your hair might be shorter back there, so why not leave some hair down when you do your updos?

Or you can create dos that sorta hang down a bit like these:

I just realized that I needed better examples for better visual of how hair that looks closer to yours or straightened AA hair:

We can't really see the back of the do below but you can see how letting some tendrils hang down, whether natural or created by a twist-out or braid-out can take attention from the nape if it's a place you're sensitive about. That's better than always having a little afro that needs to be killed the minute it starts peeking.

Nope, because I think edged up hair doesn't look feminine. When I first did the BC I had ask the barber to edge me up to make it look neat and he said that he doesn't edge up women because it makes their hairline look less feminine and soft. He told me to see how I like it for the first 2 weeks and if I still wanted to get edged up he would do it, no charge. I noticed other ladies who wore ceasar's and ladies who did get edged up and I will admit that it looks a bit masculine to me.
Plus I sorta think nature did a good job and would think it'd look weird, like a lacefront wig does with that straight unnatural-lookin' line. :giggle: Even a widow peak nape looks better to me than a straight line that is artificially created.
Yes, that is it, a straight hairline looks very lacefrontish. Apparently some like that look. It just isn't for me.
