Natural hair and Water

my hair LOVES water...i rinse my hair and scalp at least once a day...i think my water may be a bit hard or something but i have yet to really experience any really bad effects from rinsing daily....i think it's better for me to do so b/c of all the pollutants in the air here and because my hair loves it so

My hair seems to like frequent washing, as it feels very soft and moisturized. I too have learned that my hair is most fragile when it's wet, so I have to handle with care.

If anything my hair is in much better condition now with frequent washing and wetting, then it was when i was doing it only every 1-2 weeks.

Well for me I don't even go to that extreme when washing my hair. I just try to treat it well and watch what products I use and how I manipulate my hair.

Maybe this is a silly question, but HOW do you know if you have "hard water" or not??

I don't think it's a silly question. I am just assuming we have hard water here because this is a co-operative in NYC, and we haven't collectively purchased a water softner for the building (at least not as long as I've been here). I don't really know for sure that we have hard water, though. However I think the buildup I see from the water on my showerhead is probably a good indication. Going to the home depot tonight to see what I can find by way of a shower filter....
