I was wonder if it any of you naturals have had any hair damage due to washing, wetting or c/o washing your hair too much?

OT: Cocoa - you have beautiful hair!!

I sure hope washing daily causes no harm to natural hair. I can't wait to be fully natural and leave the house with fresh hair every day!

I used to do nightly conditioner treatments but I stopped after realizing those treatments may been contributing to my shedding problem.

I just tuck my hair under a plastic cap at night or if I'm feeling really lazy, nothing at all.

Irresistible, could it be that you're using hard water? I haven't had any problems with washing my hair even as often as daily. Do you do an ACV rinse when you wash? When you say your hair can't tolerate it, what happens to it when you do?

Yes hard water is a big problem, I'm checking out water softners or filters b/c the difference is very noticable.

nope. i looooove putting water on my hair. I have hard water and i haven't noticed anything bad about my hair. Maybe that's because I haven't felt the difference cuz i've never had a water softener. I bet my hair would come out SUPER soft.

I haven't had any issues. My hair is wet (not soaking) pretty much all the time. But every head is different.

girl i might live in a hard water area, but i know its not that hardest water, cause i lived in MI for a while...and that was some hard hard water, when i say my hair cant tolerate it, i just mean with just plain ole water (watery type leave in's are ok) usage for reg every day styling, my hair just isnt in its best condition that way, and it looks a wreck

im thinking my fabulous pre-poo conditioner is giving me the sheds too.- honey, aloe, castor and coconut oil.

As long as I am using an effective moisturizer afterwards, I can wet often in the shower (with filter) with a conditioner mixed with oil. Otherwise, I will have dryness and/or breakage after a while. I don't do this in the winter, though.

I've noticed that the daily conditioner washing weren't working for me once my hair reached a certain length (I would guess 7 inches of natural hair is the cut off). I would always be in a rush to get to classes, so I wouldn't treat it too gently and as a result, my ends payed the ultimate price.

Now, I conditioner wash or shampoo my hair about twice a week instead of daily. My hair's been responding a lot better since I adopted this routine.

I have hard water so I only shampoo once a week. I am looking into installing a water softener in my house but until then... wetting my hair everyday is NOT an option.

I love your hair. It is an inspiration. What products do you use and do you take vitamins. If so, what type of vitamins do you take?

Right now my hair is on a water and surge diet!!!

I washed my hair with suave naturals cocnut shampoo and then sprayed it with surge. No conditioner. I put it in braids and a 3 weeks later my hair feels fantastic. I wet my entire head every other day and spray surge at least once a day. My hair loves water and light moisture!!!

My hair does not do too well with daily water or misting. If I happen to get caught in the rain, no problem, otherwise, it gets water when I wash it once a week.

I wet my hair whenever I feel like it and I have no problems. That is usually at least once every 4-5 days; any longer than that and my scalp starts to itch something fierce!

my hair loves water :D i think it all depends on your texture and if you have hard water or not because for some people's hair can't tolerate frequent rinsing/washing.

So true! Excellent point!

My hair loves water now that I am almost natural. I get mini curls now when I spritz with water. :D

My hair is usually OK since I use a low or no sulfate shampoo most of the time. I keep a tea tree shampoo by Paul Mitchell as well, but I don't use it very often.
