My WET to DRY FLAT-IRON Results - Relaxed/4-ish texture. **Lots of Pics**

LOL y'all done brought this thread back from the dead!

Thanks for the compliments I've been in lurk mode for a few months because things have been crazy. Hair's doing great though. I still use this method to flat iron. No damage, and I use my flat iron 2 (and dare I say up to 3!!!!) times a week. I wash/co wash 4x a week or more.

Dang, and I just flat ironed my hair yesterday. The funny thing is, parts of my hair were still damp, so I ran my blowdryer over it until it was completely dry, thinking I was gonna damage my hair. I wish I would've read this then.

And while my hair came out nice, it don't have that swang like the OP.:perplexed
Plus my ends came out stuck together. I'll have to try this next time I flat iron.

BUMPING!

Any reports on long term use of this technique? I've noticed the original poster hasn't been active on the forum...

I would also like to know the flat iron TEMPERATURE used.

Im not trying to hijack the thread but is that you in your siggy?? If so you're beautiful and love the hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Just giving credit where its due)

Your hair looks absolutely beautiful......and you gotta love that swang...I'm definitly gonna try this.

Thanks for the regimen, pics, and putting all the back and forth about wet to straight in the other threads to rest...GREAT JOB GIRL!!!!

Janet' your hair looks so pretty in your siggy! Funny this thread came back to life. I was thinking of getting a wet to dry Croc to eliminate drying altogether.

I have a personal wet to dry horror story to share:(

A couple of years ago my kid spent the night with my SIL and she took it upon herself to wash and use her wet to dry iron on my daughter's hair. It looked okay but my daughter had massive and I mean massive breakage as a result. She is a natural 3B with a lion's mane of hair so it took a while to see how much damage she had but it was really bad.

I'm guessing that either the hair was too wet or the heat was too excessive but she fried my poor baby's hair and because it was so long it has taken years to grow it back.

I've always been afraid of wet to dry flat irons. I don't like to here my hair 'sizzle' and that is what it sounded like to me when I tried one...that was the first and last time.

Yikes! Yea, I was a little skeptical...thanks for the responses...I think I'm going to leave this one alone. I saw a couple of other ladies on YT using them, but they had pretty straight hair, and their hair wasn't even nice looking. It was aight...lol

This caused a set back for me. I made a thread about it and everything. Please proceed with caution!

I guess this is like relaxing or BKTing or any other process short of leaving your hair alone, it works for some but not for others.

I have been using this method since my teens and I am pretty comfortable with it, especially now that I used heat protectants. Instead of the "wet" being due to just water, I use a heat protectant spray on dry hair. So my WTD press is on protected hair. Works for me.

*disclaimer* I haven't tried wet to dry presses, considering it though :look:
Some ladies at BHM put aluminum foil on their normal flat irons and do a damp press. Also notice that a lot of wet to dry flat irons have an aluminum plate? I wonder if the key to the aluminum is to lower the temp that comes in direct contact with the hair. For example if I wrap a piece of meat in aluminum and put it in the oven or bbq the meat doesn't get burnt on the outside and can stay in the oven for longer to cook thoroughly (its not the best analogy but you get what I am saying).
