I have seen flat irons that are made for exactly just this: Flat Ironing while the hair is wet in the store recently.

Off to search for them in the net.

foxieroxienyc was on the case!

It came out nice! It has body, shine and swang!

Irresistible: don't think we forgot you're supposed to make us a tutorial too....lol

Who would've thought up this? Your hair looks great! I saw that You tube flat iron how to and just knew I couldn't get away with that. :nono::burning:

My flat iron is not a specific wet to dry iron. The main difference between these and other models are the vents that allow the steam to move through... Otherwise they are regular tourmaline or ceramic irons. I posted my type of iron on page 3 or 2 in this thread so you can check it out. The less wet your hair, the less chance of sizzle and steam coming up to scald the hell out of you, lol. I think I'm going to invest in the Chi Wet to Dry Iron. Sally's is RIGHT DOWN THE BLOCK!

When I was leaving the house this morning, a neighbor from across the street was on the cell phone. She stopped her conversation to yell across to me "Girl you have beautiful hair!!" Then she told the person she was talking to "This lady came out the house and her hair was all bouncy and shiny..." LOL thanks wet to dry flat iron technique, lol.

But again, as a caveat.. Please do not do this on soaking wet hair, and you also need product too to protect your strands. Even stylists who use these tools say the same thing. Again it's just a styling option, not sure if I'd do it all the time, but it's nice to know it's an option and I can in fact cut out the blow dryer when I want to flat iron. The dampness of the hair can help to prevent the drying effects that direct heat can cause.

exactly!:yep:

=O!!!! >.< Now I wanna try too :drunk: Though, I don't flat-iron (I get my hair pressed like twice a year at most.) But maybe, one day, I shall try this :grin:Your hair's really pretty, and I live for the swang.

Oh here are a few items that you may find interesting if you are looking for more info, I had a few other links but I closed them, these two were still open.

Here's a question though. It's the steam everyone is so worried about with this technique... Which in turn supposedly causes bubble hair... But what about the Maxiglide which actually USES STEAM to straighten... You are still using moisture to help straighten... And then what's to be said about things like Caruso rollers, which many a LHCF'er swears by, including myself... Steam treatments as well... I think that technique, products, and the tools you use will make all the difference in the world with this.

That's what I'm saying!!!!! Your hair looks great, and it is really coming along girl

I went out the night you posted this and bought a wet to dry flat iron from Sally's. I haven't used it yet. I don't plan on flat ironing my hair until Christmas, but I'm definitely going to try it then. It has a bunch of holes in the plates that I'm assuming are to let the steam escape.
I'm really looking forward to trying it though :yep:

Just now seeing this----your hair looks great, Foxie! :yep: My favorite pics are the "action" shots when your hair is SWANGIN!!!!

I did this on Monday night...I'll try to take pics tonight and post. But here's what I did. I am 9 weeks post...

  • Clarified my hair with Nexxus Aloe Rid (because this is my relaxer week I did the Sistaslick Relaxer Prep)
  • DC with Motions CPR and DC mix (aloe vera, rice bran oil, honeyquat, SAA) applied with brush
  • Steam Treatment
  • Rinse with cold water
  • Applied quarter size of Lacio, dot of Chi, sprayed a bit of Silk Elements MegaSilk Heat Protection Spray
  • Sat under dryer for 8 minutes on med heat to remove dampness (would have airdryed, but it was 11:30 PM at that point)
  • Sectioned hair in 6 parts
  • Sprayed ends of section with Silk Elements
  • Flat Iron with Remington Wet to Dry
  • Wrapped hair in Plastic Wrap
  • Under dryer for 5 minutes

Combed down the next morning.

I tried it too. It's the truth. It is much faster than blow drying and then flat ironing and I'm sure I used a lot less heat and manipulation.

Ya baby, sweet. I love how moisturized and healthy it looks. I did something after that post also - I blew my dry sopping wet on high heat with a bit of moisture and oil. Came out SOFT as a baby's butt. Not real straight though, but hey, I'll take it.

:thud: Where the heck have I been???? I am doing this on Dec 20th.

Girl your hair is off the Chain. This is the best thing I have seen to date on LHCF.

I need some serious swang pics.

Your hair does look fabulous... I'm still researching to make sure I have the technique down packed, but I'm tempted to go do it now LOL.

Basically I'm gathering that the hair should be damp and use your regular products...I'm wondering if I can still add serum to each section as I normally do. Sometimes it sizzles when I do that dry and I get nervous lol. I've never intentionally flatironed damp hair, but I have flatironed my hair when some of it was damp and I was too lazy to go dry the rest...
