My Rollersetting Technique

Hi Ladies,

In some thread we were discussing rollersetting and I suggested to ladies a way to clip the rollers to each other. I said I would take pics to show what I was explaining.

I could find the thread so I just started a new one. :lachen:

So...just check my album and you will see the how-to that I did for rollersetting.

Now I didn't post the results because I didn't have the time to let my hair dry as it should have...don't spank me BUT I had to run out because I have a 12 o'clock appt and I got under the dryer at like 10:45. My hair was NOT 100% dry by 11:30, but it was close (about 98% dry). It still came out nice though. Enough of the blah blah blah...

Pics in the album.

Thanks for sharing Kaddy. This is also the technique I use to rollerset my hair and it comes out great everytime!

Thanks Kaddy!

I'll have to try this  I could never do a roller set in the past because I couldn't figure out how to keep the rollers in.

I should use the clips that you are using.
I found that those clips work best even though I use the others too. But since those have a deep edge it holds better.

Way to go Phyto Queen!!!

That set looks great!

You once said that you roll your set the way you want your hair to lay. Is this(in the demo pics) the normal way you wear it or do you roll all different kind of ways?

I also like the way you clipped your rollers together. A lot of people have problems with the clips and this may be a key factor. I'm going to try it this way..

Also, I've just discovered those clips you are using, they are great.

Thanks again...

PS: you should get a :spank: for not showing us the results! ;)
It would be nice to see the smooth finish! The next time you do another set, can you take pics of those results?

I do my rollersets this way as well!! I can't even imagine trying to make the rollers stay in nice & tight trying to clip them "free-standing"... :look:

Wow, great tip! I've been experimenting with using the silver clips for roller sets as well. I can't wait to try your technique out for a tighter set.

I was told that clipping the rollers together causes longer drying time. I'd love to hear from anyone who tries this technique...let us know if it took longer to dry.

It does take a longer time to dry for me when I do it this way. My wet hair together seems to take forever to dry this way. I only do it to some sections because I haven't bought enough clips to keep the hair dry, or I'm using too many rollers.

I haven't really had this problem. It is about the same for me with either method. However, I do know at times the once my hair gets about 90% dry and I start checking the rollers, I do reroll a few that are dry completely. But I did this the other way I rolled too.:ohwell:

I usually get a tight set, just wondering if it actually did take longer. My stylist was lecturing me not to do your technique, due to extended time.

I don't know then. I guess it's probably more of a preference for the stylist. My last two used the technique I use and the drying time was about the same for when I was using the clip each one separately technique.

Hey Kaddy,

Did you take dowm the pictures? I just checked you album and didn't see any pictures for rollersetting :( .

Fotki was acting real funky this afternoon. Every time I tried to change something 4 or 5 of the pics were missing from albums.

Kaddy, some of your pics are still not showing up in your album.

I like your rollerset technique!:) I rollerset too, but I use hairpins to secure the rollers. Problem is, the pins always wind up poking me in the head and it is sooooo uncomfortable, especially when I'm trying to sleep. Yes, I like the way the hair comes out when I set it, especially since it's underprocessed and rollersetting helps straighten it out. But yowza, those pins!

Maybe I need to start using the clips that you use. They look a lot more comfortable.

This is how I rollerset my hair already and it turns out nice. The only problem is that I tend to have a small hump at the crown of my head after I take the rollers out, wrap my hair and then comb it back down. It's caused by the hair scrunching up between the rollers and it seems like no matter how my I pull on the roller to try and straighten out my hair, it still ends up being like that in the end. It messes up a perfect wrap. If anyone has any suggestions to help me eliminate this problem I would really appreciate it. TIA

Hey blaqbarb,

The only thing I try to do is when I roll it, make sure that the hair is as taut as possible. Also, where do you start. Meaning, do you start with the top roller or the bottom roller. Last night when I rolled my hair I started at the bottom. I had less of the problem with the smoothing it.

I also posted pics ladies of the result (well kind of) of my rollerset from last night.
