I imagined that to have shiny hair id need to first clarify and get it really squeaky clean then deep con then flat iron,, and i totally disproved that last nite when i achieved the shiniest hair ever without a touch of grease or oil ( I consider that faux shine and makes my hair limp and yucky), I started out with REALLLY dirty hair,, over a week unwashed and then heavily coconut oiled so it was filthy and just used a very gentle shampoo called Nexxus Theratin which isnt clarifying at all then deep con with a mix of K-pak moisturizing con and Victorias secret so sexy for an hour, afterwards I rinsed, used a couple of squeezes of salerm 21 leave in and Tigi thickening cream( Im soo sick of flat hair) and for heat protection a small amount of CHI silk infusion ( really good stuff), Then after drying i ironed with my Sedu, The results were phenomenal,, the lightest, bounciest. shiniest , smoothest, richest in color hair i think i have ever seen on myself,,, I think it really pays to buy some of the name brand prods ( I splurged on hair prods becuz of Major hair guilt from attempting to get it wavy for almost 2 months with irons etc!!!hehe)

oh i agree with you on higher-end products making a difference. i usually stick with V05 and TJ Nourish because they're cheap and effective, but when i have the money to splurge on Aubrey's Honeysuckle Rose conditioner my hair has bounce and shine all over the place. :D also using quality products when i straighten makes a world of difference. if i use cheap stuff, my hair will be cotton-candy poof with no real shine...
