My hair is shot...

I got my hair flat-ironed a couple months ago. It won't curl back. The ends have been trimmed pretty far up but I just wanna cut it. My hair is still straight in some spots. I am just so hurt cause I didn't fathom one salon visit would do this. I should have relaxed, at least the damage would be even. I feel like a dang fool. I was cute, but it was not worth it. Now I am transitioning with the string urge to bc. My hair was jacked up before but it was something I could get on top of. I am considering a braid a thon.. Just cut it off then wear braids til I get to a happy length. I am just too cheap to go for it and my braiding skills are so so. I haven't decided which one to pick. I think I want to braid it myself one long weekend.

Sorry to hear this...

Do you wear wash-n-go's or styles that require a defined curl pattern? Perhaps you can do braidouts or twist-outs

My hair is just so messed up. I am seeing patches of short hair. I don't use heat but maybe a handful of times a year. I know I have done bad practices but this took the cake. I turreted too do two stand twists and my hair was just limp, like it didn't want to be twisted. Its stringy. Its dry. I just wanna start anew. I just need a good choice of style that protects, hides the fact that I have choppy length, and fits my military regulations. The last one is what makes this natural journey the toughest. My hair styles are so limited. I am tempted to just keep a short cut forever. I love my natural hair and being a part of such a great statement among women of color. This thing is rough. Thanks for commenting. I want to do braid outs and twist outs. My hair is just not responding like it used to. I will do some experimenting and let you guys know what I can do with it before I cut.

I am sorry you are going through this. I used wigs while transitioning. I still wear wigs. But I love my natural hair too! Or you can try braids until you feel comfortable with you hair. I know exactly how you feel! My hair too was choppy and hard to manage and dry as hell LOL. I also stayed away from heat. I have been heat free for almost two years now. Just baby your hair. Moisture! I wish you look in whatever you choose to do.

So sorry this happened to you. The same thing happened to me when I had like 9 inches of hair... I only went to the salon once.... I'm still trying to recover and it happened over a year ago. Still cutting straight hair,... Once I get to MBL I'll cut my entire head of hear evenly, and start again.... Just keep moisturizing, stay away from heat... I support a braid-a-thon... Will prevent you from seeing the hair.. believe me that's the worst part. cut off 4 inches already... and still cutting...

I highly agree with your idea of the braid-a-thon. Cutting your hair might hurt initially, but it is really for the best.
Some people do a series of moisture and/or protein treatments after flat-ironing to get their hair to bounce back but if your hair is still straight after a couple of months, then cutting it is your best bet.

I'm sorry to hear about the setback, but it may not be as bad as you think it is. You definitely need to wear protective styles for at least 4-5 months to give your hair a chance to recover.

Rose water helps balance the PH level in your hair, I know it's expensive, but I notice a huge difference in how my hair looks, feels and responds after using a bottle. Full fat Greek yogurt treatments work well to condition your hair. Leave all heat alone, seal your ends after the rose water with coconut, argon or olive oil.. Caster doesn't work well for me, but use whatever oil works.

I love SimpleUniques videos, she has some nice styles she has worn while growing her hair out. Check put her other tutorials for Protective hairstyles. Your hair will bounce back, it just needs some TLC.
