If you plan to wash everyday less product is best. I just do a little condish. If more than one day wear I go a little heavier on product to maintain definition but it will give hard/non moving first day hair.
The best thing I found was kinky curly custard. You have to follow the directions to a T but it works and give a defined look and I can go for a few days. But the drawbacks are, it give you crunchy hair the first day and its expensive.
I've heard mention that the Eco Styler gel gives similar results. And it's cheaper so if you hate it not too much of a loss.
It's always the expensive products smh! And also if you want to try just conditioner I suggest something heavier. My hair tends to go out instead of down and get that bushy look too, so I use a heavier conditioner to weigh it down.
For my wash n'go to have movement, I have to use more product rather than less. Heavy gels add weight to my hair and reduces a little of the shrinkage. If I just use condish or nothing at all, I'll have a curly, motionless fro . If I have enough product in my hair (ie. a lot of gel), it'll move when I turn my head and blow in the breeze . Ecostyler and KCCC are both good for this.
Almost forgot.
Drying my hair in 4 twists or 2 loose buns on the sides of my head help give my wngs movement.
For wash and go's I mix a heavy gel with a very thick and rich butter. The butter softens, but has a nice hold, and the gel keeps the frizz and clumps my hair together to get a nice defined curl that moves more and more the longer I wear the wash n go. For gel I use Kinky Curly Curling Custard, which looks expensive when you first see it, but believe me, a little goes a long way! If you use to much your hair will look like icicles! And for the butter I use the Nubian Heritage styling custard. Works amazing, and the Nubian Heritage keeps my hair soft and moisturized as well. Oh and I just mix these two products in my hands before applying.
I found a less expensive gel called xtreme wet line gel. I think it's better than kinky curl custard because it is cheaper and my tight curls have movement.
