I have somewhere between 1''-3'' of relaxed hair on the ends -- some portions of my hair have no relaxed ends which is mostly in the back and nape area. I washed and DC'd my hair as usual then set my hair with coconut oil, Kinky-Curly Knot Today, and Kinky-Curly Curling Custard. I used 29 red flexirods, 36 orange flexirods, and 1 grey rod in the middle of my crown. I sat under my Pibbs for 2 hours though my head could barely fit in it. After removing the rods, I separated the curls with the aid of a little more coconut oil to keep it from frizzing.

Sorry, no pictures of the rods while they were in.

If I attempt this style again, I have to find a new styling aid to use because the KCCC left flakes in my hair -- nothing too severe though. I had never used KCCC before and wanted to try it out. Any other product suggestions? I hope this style can last more than a week because it took a lot of time to accomplish. Enjoy! :)

ETA: Here is what my hair looks like after being slept on for two nights:

I can probably make this last for at LEAST 5 days but we'll see. Thanks for looking everyone!

I just looked through your fotki and you give me hope for my long term transitioning! your hair came out beautifully btw! Let us know how long it lasts! :)

I love it! I was just looking at Moptopmaven's flexirod tut on youtube yesterday thinking this may be my next style attempt. My main hesitation was the thought of doing it on natural hair and the style not coming out as sleek as I'd like. You make me want to give it ago. Please keep us posted on how well it keeps up.

@BOLD Try Noodle Head by BedHead from Sally's. It works for me and it never flakes up. Hope this helps.

Gorgeous set! Hmm, maybe try the Ecostyler gel, but be careful if you mix with other products as it could cause flaking. Also, I used undiluted Lottabody (blue) for my last curlformer set based on a Youtube video I saw and that gave me the best rollerset results surprisingly. You will still need to smooth the hair (soft brush or rat tail comb) before roller though.

Please post updates because I would love to have a rollerset survive a week (while working out). The above set (Lottabody) lasted but I was not working out that particular week so I couldn't test that theory.

Thanks everyone for the kind words and product suggestions!

I will take some pics tomorrow to show you how it looks after two days in an office environment. Hopefully I can get a full week out of this style but that may be wishful thinking. Sleeping was a little strange for me last night because I was afraid I would smash the curls but it turned out fine -- I just removed my bonnet and fluffed my hair upside down.

looks nice! I found that eco styler holds better than kccc....so I tried kckt and eco styler and I have also tried kcss and eco styler!

i stalked you, ahem FOLLOWED you to your fotki and i'm hoping that what i saw was 4A hair in your albums because i that would mean that i have a chance at getting a flexi set as smooth and pretty as yours! you should use your photos as a "flat ironing alternatives" PSA.
