Okay ladies as you know i've been battling underprocessed hair for a while now... and I'm glad to announce that I've finally won the battle!
I used affirm mild lye and let it "take" for 25 mins, just to make sure. My lil sis applied it and she did a great job, she was very thorough and gentle, and made a point to apply it precisely.
My hair is almost bone straight though, but it felt so soft and silky after i washed and conditioned. After rinsing out the relaxer i used ORS mayo for 10 mins rinsed and neutralized 2x's, did and ACV rinse, used aphogee 2 min reconstructor for 10 mins w/ a plastic cap, then i used pantene S&S combed it thorugh and rinsed. I lost maybe 5 hair during the whole process (including the rollerset hairs lost)

I didn't have enough time to properly dry my hair under the dryer so i, unpinned the rollers and wraped it. I haven't taken my hair down yet, but the outside of the wrap is sooooo shiny and smooth looking!
I just wanted to share this.

Wow. Sounds like it's going to be pretty when you take it down. Please let us know how it comes out. I'm glad you found a relaxer that you're happy with.

Congrats beana! I am glad your hair came out looking so good. It looks like a lot of women on the board apply their relaxers at home. When I am ready to relax my own hair you guys have given me the confidence that I can do it.

I am glad that it finally works for you

Do you have a license? I am desperate to stay with Affirm, but cannot purchase it with a license. Do you know of some other way to buy it. If so please, let me know.

Beana I'm so glad you finally got the relaxer and that it went really well.

You have beautiful hair so I know what it must look like now

congrats Beana. I can't wait until you post the update pics. I'm confident that your hair looks good and Im not even the one who did it!

. I think that I'm going to go with the Mizani for now because Crystal offered to give me a sample of hers and it sounds like a deal to me. If Mizani doesn't perform well I'm going to give the Affirm a try.

YAAY Beana, I'm glad it worked out for you. I know all the struggles you've been through and we actually shared some of the heartaches. One day I'll be free too (hopefully next touch-up). So how long was is since the last relaxer? And how many inches on underprocessed hair did u have? I'm guessing you did a corrective relaxer. Please let me know all the details.

CONGRATS AGAIN

I saw you today and your hair looks great!! I'm especially proud of you finding a good relaxer and how well it worked for you..IMO it didn't look bone straight, but looked very smooth and full of body..I'm sure it will be even better after your next hair wash..Keep up the good work!!

YAY!!! Beana I am so happy for you!! I know your hair is looking awesome! I am glad the affirm worked well for you, it sounds like your sis did a great job. If you ever need someone to take digital pics for you I am there

Carmenrose is being too nice... she has beautiful hair and to receive a compliment from her (as with all you ladies) means a lot.
my hair actually didn't look as good as i expected after i took down the wrap, but its good enough!! I'm excited about my next wash though . I FINALLY PURCAHSED THE SMOOTH INTENSE SERUM!!! and i plan on using it with my next rollerset.

Also.. just so you all know Carmenrose, Brownrelaxedhair, and foxybronx's pics DO NOT do them justice. They ALL have great hair that looks amazing in person, and Sweetnic had the cutest braids.

Thanks you all for the encouragement!

No eliza, I do not have a license. The retailers here in NYC make almost every "salon" product available to the public. I purchased mine from Ra-ma BS on 105th and Amsterdam.. they raised the dag'on price from $21 to $35 like many other BSS in NY

Armyqt, yesterday marked 7 weeks exactly since my last touchup. Yes, i did do a corrective relaxer and i had approx. 4 inches of underprocessed hair. Armqt, you will bounce back, and when you do you'll be excited like i am now!

I saw your pics and you are definetely making progress.
I really like Affirm!! I used the protecto prior to relaxing and tried to prep my hair protein wise the 2 washes before the relaxer. I'm very pleased with my results. I'll let everyone know how it holds up

Thanks for the info. NY has eveything. It is frustrating to see it on the shelves here and know you can't even think about taking it to the counter. But that's okay. I'll be getting my retouches done at the JC Penney's store from now on.
