My Curly Pudding Came in the mail today! :yay: I'm just getting home though and didn't get a chance to try it out... I'll do it in the morning. I guess that $10 shipping was worth it. I just placed my order Friday afternoon and it was here today. I also received a sample of the unscented cp and the rapid recovervy. I'll be back with a review later... :p

So am I supposed to be using this on damp hair or soaking wet hair? Does anybody know? The jar says damp hair but the instructions they including (it looks like they just printed off the style how tos from the website) says to apply it to soaking wet hair for finger styling.

I'm on the fence about this stuff. I tried it this morning and I'm not impressed but IDK if I did it right. I applied it to towel dried damp hair per the instructions on the jar but the product was kind of sitting on top. So when I went to look at the printed instructions, it said soaking wet. So I rewet my hair and applied some more and it was just kind of sitting on top my hair like my conditioner does. So then I had white crap all over my hair. I rubbed it in with my towel. I used two click clacks to pull my hair back in the front and went out the house.

My hair is softer and fluffier that usual. It's drying faster. And it certainly doesn't feel as goopy as it does when the Fantasia gel is on wet hair. It's not as weighed down. IDK if I like that or not.

It's also fuzzy looking. My hair isn't usually fuzzy looking when I was and go. And I lost some of my curls. Maybe I did that with the towel? My hair has also shrunken up more. My edges aren't laid down as much as they are when I use the Fantasia gel. They don't look bad but they're just not as smooth.

I'm gonna have to give it another try maybe this evening or tommorow morning. Can anybody give me any advice? TIA....

ETA: Also should I be using a leave in before I apply it? I've noticed that my hair shrinks more without a leave in.

Hi,

I normally co-wash my hair, then place a towel on my hair to absorb the extra water (don't aggitate the hair) and then put curly pudding in my hands, rub it together and apply it to my hair. After that I follow with the curly butter creme for shine (or hair oil). It usually works great for me.
If my hair is too wet it doesn't do well.

hmmm...they must've changed the formula again b/c I always use mine on wet hair, the wetter the better. It does weight down your curl at first, but it should spring back and be more defined. I'll have to get some of the new kind and see if it works any different for me. :ohwell:

My hair has finally dried for the day and it looks like a cotton ball with random curls through it. It's soft but still. I'm gonna try it again when I get home. Maybe I'll DC first.

ITA! Having the hair nice and wet aids in product distribution big time!

I like the original formula (the purple one without paraffin in the ingredients). It works best for me on soaking, dripping wet hair. I use a spray bottle to keep each section wet as I'm working the product thru. I kind of just rake the curly pudding thru small sections with my four fingers. I don't shingle that much though. My favorite use for curly pudding is for flexirod sets. I have to do small sections and saturate the section with water and curly pudding. Brush it smooth with a denman or use a fine tooth comb. Then roll up snuggly with a flexi rod (the orange or blue one). Then let it dry completely (this could take 2.5 hours). I get a really nice smooth spiral curl this way.

i bought the curly pudd'n and meringue a while back and was not impressed AT ALL

i followed the directions but it nothing for my hair

hope urs works out though

You know, it's funny because I'm on the fence to...I like my leave in better, but one thing I think the Pudding is good for is when you're going out, like to a party or something, it keeps the curls looking pretty cute.

Does the curling pudding creme make your hair hard or a little crusty? I tried a similar product that I didn't like much because of the crusty hard curls feel.

I liked Caligirl's flexirod method. I like the idea of more define curls, but for me that usually meant great looking curls, but hair that you can't touch.

Hey Nappi,

What were your expectations for the products? I'm on the fence, so I need pro and con info.

I wanted to try this but seeing your review and reading other negative reviews I think I'll pass. Has anyone tried the curly merengue? Is this supposed to be better?

I've tried the meringue and the pudding. Love the pudding, not so much on the meringue. I think it has to do with texture, I'm 4a/4b, the meringue is not as thick as the pudding...that's a bad comparison, b/c they're both thick, but the pudding is more pudding and the meringue is lighter feeling. I think it might do well on a 3a/b/c, but I needed more hold.

I don't follow the directions that came with the pudding...that shingling thing had me looking foolish. I wash/condition/detangle. Then I take a scoop about 1/2 the size of an egg (but I'm only like chin length stretched) and put it on my hair when it is soaking wet. Then I air dry and try not to touch it. I have some pics on my fotki.

I thought it was going to be the holy grail of curl products the way it's talked about. I've tried doing a wash and go 4 times this week trying to get it right and it does nothing for my hair. It feels soft as long as it's damp but then it makes my hair bushy and dry. It worked better adding it to dry hair but then it made my hair look fuzzy. The smell is great but that's about it. I give up. I'll probably just use it up and that will be it. I wouldn't buy it again. The Rapid Recovery Treatment was GREAT though. Maybe I can exchange it for that? For wash and gos I'm just gonna stick to my leave in and fantasia gel. That's works good enough for me.
