I definitely need one of those posters because my bantu knots look ridiculous. For some reason, it worked while I was transistioning and then as soon as I went natural, it started looking a HAM. No one's gonna ask me if I'm Nikos' cousin, lol.
Cayenne, I'm sure you will master braidouts and pincurls soon.

I don't know whether to be happy or sad!!! I'm really upset with my pincurls because when I first took them down, it looked like they had the potential to be really cute. Am I supposed to be using some kind of light setting lotion or mousse to give them hold? I can't figure out why some of my hair was pin straight and other parts were wavy?

I use a little leave-in conditioner on each section before I curl it. How many pincurls/braids did you make?
Cayenne0622 said:I did about 10 or 11. I followed the instructions of MsReiko. I believe that's how her name is spelled. I put some NTM and oil to seal on each section, twisted and pincurled. The thing is...I didn't sleep overnight on them. I did it in the morning and left it up for about 3 hours. Each section had a combo of wavy, stringy, and straight hair. I'm thinking it would work better if I sleep overnight. I'll try it again. Thanks for the conditioner tip.
Thanks to everyone else for their responses and well wishes.![]()
I see two problems here. First, there is no twisting involved in pincurling. Each curl should be rolled and pinned in place. Second, three hours is not nearly enough time for the curls to set, unless you apply heat afterwards.Cayenne0622 said:I did about 10 or 11. I followed the instructions of MsReiko. The bolded is probably your problem. Every time I've ever done pincurls or braidouts, I've slept on them. I don't think 3 hours is enough time for your hair to set and hold the style. I'd try it again and leave them in overnight.
I haven't tried pin curls in awhile, but my braidouts and twistouts suck. I should call 'em braidINs 'cause I ain't going out like that.![]()

Aren't these bantus?
