JJ...my hair idol. I adore you and your hair! So BEAUTIFUL!!! You better claim MBL b/c before you know it, you'll be claiming WL!! :bighug:

JJamiah It really sounds like you have sensitivity/allergy issues with this product. Your reaction is really NOT NORMAL for BKT. I've gotten it on my scalp or shoulders (accidentally) and didn't notice until it had been sitting on for a few mins (I felt the slightest tingling).

Some people develop contact sensitivity to some compounds and react strongly to small amounts of the sensitizer. One of the main concerns of using cosmetics with formaldehyde is the possibility of developing such sensitivity upon repeated exposure (e.g., exposure when getting acrylic nails on, or just using some nail polishes.)

Could you post the ingredients of your product? Also, do you know the % formaldehyde?

You should really consider switching brands.

I was going to PM you but for the sake of anyone else who might find this information useful I just kept it here.

It has 2% Formaldehyde in it. I'd need to see another brand maybe with none in it. :)

Thanks for helping me out :) :bighug:

HEllo ladies,

I tried my hand at the BKT, it burned like hell, Never have I burned like this with a relaxer, I've tingled but never felt like I was literally having chemical burns!!!! It make me choke, it also burned my eyes to tears.

HUH, with that said the pain lasted 5-10 minutes and the process was a process. I wish I could condition my hair then BKT.

My hair status is SOFT and Silky, :)

Here is a length check I might not do another this year, :)

You're welcome!

I really don't want you to have to suffer/damage your health for the sake of hair. We'll figure this one out. I'd be happy to send you a tiny sample to try on your skin (side by side with your product) to narrow down the cause of your reaction. Unfortunately I only have a formaldehyde formula to test (Global Keratin Juvexin). I could put about 1 teaspoon of the product in a ziplock baggie, tape it, the bag it again, then put in in an envelope and mail it.
PM me if you want to do this.

Maybe someone else will send you a formaldehyde free sample for a real controlled experiment. Hey! an actual experiment! I'm getting excited now!

Wow!!! Gorgeous hair!!

I highly recommend getting your SO to help next time. I am not sure if you ever did your own hair but I had not. Trying to avoid getting it on my scalp was my biggest fear. I had my first (Lasio One Day) & second BKT (Rejuvenol) done at the salon. For the 3rd BKT (Rejunvenol) I had DH help. By the 4th time I was finally able to do it on my own without getting any on my scalp. I did have my last BKT done by my stylist (Marcia T chocolate) and I plan to go to her for the next one too (Lasio).

Your hair is gorgeous!!! Congrats on all of your progress! I had no idea you had all that hair under your wig :)

Thanks for all the lovely comments :) :grouphug:

I know I like hugging too much :lachen:

I had so much fun with you ladies this year, I am so looking forward to next year.

Ohh man I had given up on bkting. Where did you buy it? How long did you leave it on before you washed?
