OK. My curiosity is getting the better of me so I am getting dressed to go to the movies to see it. (and yes I'm going this early because it's cheaper LOL) If you've seen it let me know what you thought and I'll do the same when I get back.

Going at 2:00 p.m. today. Can't wait. I'm hoping that it has some positive sides to it, I really do. There are way too many of us with beautiful hair that men can touch. I get a good laugh, I just don't want others to think our hair is a mess. Thinking positive, thinking positive.

I'm seeing it tonight in Harlem. I'm actually a bit more excited to listen to the audience commentary than the film!

I wanna go see it. I heard about this movie coming out a lonnnng time ago and just patiently waited for it to come out and it's here now! Soooo I am gonna try and see it. Today is my very first marriage anniversary (yay!) so I may be doing things with the hubby to celebrate...maybe when we go see our planned movie we can go into see that after....but then again he was like I AINT FINNA WATCH THAT MOVIE, WHEN HAS CHRIS ROCK EVER DONE ANY FUNNY MOVIES? I said baby it's more of a documentary with a few laughs. My husband always expresses his amazement at my ability to like terrible movies-oh well. I like bad movies because aint many good movies out and I know the difference between Good and stupid- some movies were meant to be dumb, like Scary Movie. Folks act like they evy movie put out needs an academy award. Sometimes I just wanna laugh at some silly stuff. (rolls eyes)

Ok. So I am back from the movie. To sum it up, it was more of a comedy than anything. A major focus was the Bronner Bros hair show.

They talked about relaxing at an early age but it didn't have any negative connotations IMO. I screamed when the dermetologist said someone had relaxed their child's hair at 1 1/2 years old. WTH?? That baby's hair isn't even mature at that age it's still changing and that babies poor scalp. Why would a mother want to put her baby through that kind of torture. People just don't think. I was saddened by what was said in the relaxer section. One little girl got her first relaxer at 3 years old and said to Chris that his girls should get a "perm because they are supposed too" What? NO one is supposed to get a relaxer. I was blown away by that statement. Wow!!

We had a decent crowd considering that most are at work at 12 in the 'noon. My crowd laughed the entire movie. It was funny. I ain't even trying to front.

Well I won't say anymore because I'll spoil it for the ones who haven't seen it yet.

I want to see it. I like movies that make fun of women and hair care, like "Hair Show" and other movies like it. It's just funny to me.

OK, DSD. Spoiler request: What did Nia Long say that was supposedly so funny? I keep hearing she had a great line. PM me if you don't want to post.

I will say that they talked about black women's hair and sex. They were touching on the enigma of not touching a bw's hair. It was funny.

Spoiler alert: Nia Long said that she had a pool but to swim in it and get her hair completely wet that her man had to be her main man, her "n*g**r". That part was too funny!!

Oh, ok. N word. So I shouldn't go see this with white people. Got it. :wink2: Thanks.

She's been all over the place promoting this film. I heard her on the radio the other day saying she's now weaveless.

OK....Saw the movie I was really surprised. I'm trying not to ruin it for those of you that are still planning to see it. I thought that it was going to be some movie who's laughs would be at the expense of my sisters. I have to admit I did learn somethings about the active ingredient in relaxers and where the hair comes from for weaves both of which shocked me.

I didn't expect the candor from the people especially the stars that were interviewed, I'm not sure if I like that some of 'our' secrets have been exposed. I felt bad that the message that perms are what you are supposed to do, is getting or has gotten to our children. My personal opinion is that what we do with our hair is a personal choice and should fit with a person's personal style. I don't think that it should be looked at as a political statement or how one values herself. I believe that the problem comes it when we label hair as good or bad because in that a person may began to associate her own worth, value or beauty with how their hair is labeled. If my hair is considered good and attractive then I'm good and attractive. Which should spark the question who's job is it to determine what texture of hair is good especially in this day in time.

All hair is good and should be cared for and appreciated.

I did like the movie, it was funny, informative, embarrassing, and I think that it will and has sparked a lot of debate.

I have to admit. I felt a bit uncomfortable because I straightened my hair last weekend and it is still straight and after the movie women were walking behind me and on the side of me whispering and pointing because they thought that my hair was a weave or that I had a perm. (the one lady said 'I bet she go home and take that --- out of her head now') Which it shouldn't have mattered to them.

WOWWWW..really?? How SAD (at the bolded)!! It really shouldn't have mattered to them one way or the other. TSK!

I'll be seeing the movie tonight with my mom and it will be INTERSTING to see how it is all put together.

I want to see the movie. &usually, I'm totally for paying to see art work & just not trying to get over in general. But, today, I'll be watching this movie on the internet. I don't want to monetarily support something that may be giving out false information or portraying a distorted image of things.

I am so mad this movie is not playing anywhere in Northern California, but every theater under the sun in Southern California is showing it :ohwell: Guess I will have to wait until it comes out in all cities.

No theater near me is playing it. I'll be in gboro and raleigh tomorrow...I'll see if anyone is playing it up there.
